Mum update

She's gone through surgery and woke up from narcosis all right. She's a bit confused, but it's apparently a result of narcosis and will clear up in a day or three. At least the very nice nurse I spoke to on the phone said so. Now the thing I'm mainly worried about is her osteoporosis - whether the bone is strong enough to keep the needle or pin or whatever it is they put into it. All we can do is to hope and to pray.

H - Little Emma's grandmother - dug out her old phone she no longer uses. We put Mum's SIM card into it, and I'll take it to the hospital for her, so that she'll have some outside contact, at the very least. I'll write her a user manual with 2 cm large, thick black letters; fortunately, it is easy to use.

That's basically it. I hung on the phone with the hospital and friends (Mum's and my own ones), took her medicines, reading glasses and a few necessities - not to mention her lucky teddy bear - to the hospital and am hoping for the best. After barely three hours of sleep that's the most I can do today.

So do I. As long as the bone can hold the pin, we'll be fine. Mum is one tough cookie and will fight her back onto her feet.

*hug* I hope so much the bone will hold and she gets to be on the mend without further complications. Glad she made it through the surgery and narcosis alright, at least. I guess there is nothing to do but wait and hope for the best now. I know it's hard right now but try to take care of yourself, too. She'll need you at your best when she gets to come home.

I'm glad there's some positive news after the surgery. Hope very much that the healing goes smoothly.

How good that you were able to get a phone for her, I'm sure one of the nurses will help her with it should she need help. You'll both feel better once you can communicate.

I'll repeat what everyone else has said. You need to take care of yourself too, your mum will be counting on you!

I'm glad the surgery went well and that you were able to get your mum's essential items to her. No one should be stuck in hospital without their lucky teddy bear and some way to contact the outside world.

What good news, as good as it can be, that she's come out of it normally and will clear up relatively soon. l join the others in hoping very hard the bone will heal properly with the pin in place, and the recovery will be uncomplicated.

I was so, so very relieved you were able to get a phone and will be able to speak to her by phone. Just the sound of your voices will be tremendously comforting and reassuring to both of you.

Sleep well — I hope you will be able to, now that the shock is past and hopefully your worry and anxiety will fade, knowing Mum's got her meds, her glasses, and her lucky teddy bear! It will be so good to be able to talk to her tomorrow!

Take care. Sending lots of love to you and your Mum.

It's good news that she came through the op. Now it's a waiting game which, in my experience, is always the hardest. You're both in my thoughts.

I am so happy to read this — both that she is now post-op and that she now has a phone, her reading glasses and her teddy ; such things help to focus when the brain is still recovering from the anaesthetic, I think.

I hope you slept well.

So thoughtful of H to provide an old phone--an easy one to use, at that! Your Mum is lucky to have a caring and responsible daughter like you, too. ♥ ♥ ♥ Hoping and praying that all will be well.

Thank you, prayers are much appreciated.
The phone use is a bit one-sided, Mum finds the buttons too small and the illumination in the hospital too weak, so it's accepting calls so far. But that's still a blessing.
