It started with finally thawing out the freezer, which had to be done before the food run and filling it again with the newly purchased food items. Then I made the food run, with the result that I got home at 1.30pm. Which is when I did some cooking - gave the couscous salad a try and it was a full success. We had boiled Wiener sausages with it - yum! Afterwards I dropped like a stone and slept for an hour and a half. The food run was very successful, the Auchan supermarket had several things we regularly buy on sale; but dragging the bags home cost strength.

My telly is still not working, but at least the cable hasn't been cut by any of the idiots living in flats above us. So I'll have to hunt down Service Guy, arrange with the janitor that he could get onto the roof to see what needs to be done and hope that he can do something, eventually. *sigh* Still, not having to start a war with some jerk who cuts cables is a relief.

Not much else was done today, but at least we had lovely, sunny weather. My friend Erna called around 7pm, which was nice. Then Mum and I watched Cake Boss and we're looking forward to Paul Hollywood's Pies and Puds. Such are the intellectual challenges of these days.

Oh, it was an improvised thing.

I took 120 gr couscous, boiled some water with a Suppenwürfel (Gemüse) and poured it over the couscous. Covered the bowl with cling film and let it steep for roughly 10-15 minutes. In the meantime I chopped up a 100 gr-package of mixed salad (Iceberg, white cabbage, red cabbage and carrots, the kind you can buy ready to eat), two cherry tomatoes and one Essiggurke, rasped some Emmenthaler over it and mixed the whole thing with couscous. And that was, basically, it.

The BBC Food website offers much more... involved recipes, but I just used the ingredients I had at home.

Ugh! Very frustrating about the telly, especially in lockdown when you need a break!

True! What are we without our background noise?

Carrying a load of shopping is tiring - I'm not surprised you needed a rest.

I hope they get your TV sorted soon - thank goodness for being able to watch things online in the meantime. There is something comforting, at the moment, about watching people bake - I have just been watching an episode of Rachel Allen Bakes.

I don't know about watching online - I rarely do, except short stuff on YouTube. For watching longer things I need a proper telly and a comfortable armchair/sofa to sprawl over. *g*

But yeah, watching people bake is great fun. In my perhaps retarded opinion watching Paul Hollywood knead dough is one of the sexiest things on this planet. Not because he is sexy; it is the ease and delight with which he does the kneading.

Mmmmmm, couscous. I need to buy some packets next time I hit the shop. I had forgotten how nice it is.

It really is. This was my first experience, but definitely not the least.

Your meals always sound delicious. Sorry about your telly problems, hope they are resolved soon, so frustrating. I wish it was sunny here. The last few days have been cold, overcast and grey.

I was deliriously happy to see the sun come out, too. Even though I was lugging two large shopping bags home in aforementioned sunshine. *g*
