Because I needed to type up the finished Chapter 14 of Timescapes (my Torchwood/Primeval x-over), I got online right in the morning today. And since I was already up and posting, I decided to put up Chapter 37 of Elvenhome as well, an old story which I started posting to AO3 in early December. Two more chapters to go, and then it's done in its entirety. Yay!

In-between typing and posting, I also made lunch: a dish of cauliflowers, tuna and cheese sauce, baked in the oven. It was very yummy. We still have a big platter of Christmas cookies, and we had leftover soup from yesterday, so it was a pleasant meal indeed.

Also, I took down the Advent calendar in my bedroom. Meaning these guys here:

The white wall appears so blank without the splash of colour 24 Christmas elves brought to it, but it was really overdue. As usual, we'll leave the Christmas tree up to February 2, which is the official end of Christmas time according to the Church. Since it's now an artificial monstrosity, needles won't be a problem, at least.

No social contacts today so far, but something in that area might still happen. It's early afternoon yet, after all.

Edit: Three hours, two phone chats and an e-mail later I think I can call it a day. :)

I'm pretty sure your little tree is very sad as you always call it a monstrosity ... :-(

It was yummy indeed, and quite easy to make. Unlike the elves that cost me about four months or so. Granted, I made two sets of them, but still...

Those elves are just too cute! Your artificial tree with the homemade ornaments and decorations was lovely. You do it an injustice, poor tree. I did not put up my artificial tree this year, but went to the nursery and bought a live tree. a Norfolk pine, about a foot and a half tall. I put a few ornaments on it and a paper star at the top and that was it for 2020, aside from our door wreath and nativity set. I'll leave the latter two out but the tree is now bare. The ornaments were a bit heavy for its delicate branches.

Still, a live tree is something special. We'll keep up our tree until February 2, I think. Or perhaps I'll take down a few ornaments every day, so it will be ready to go to sleep until next day by the beginning of February. We'll see.

The elves are cute, although there was a lot of cursing when I made them a few years ago... three or four years ago, I think. I made two sets, the other one going to my goddaughter whose son, Theo, was about two or three years old then, I think. Theirs is a bit different, as half the elves have opposite colouring: green hats and collars with red bodies. They also had pipe-cleaner arms, which I decided not to add to my set.

Theo has a baby sister now (Little Emma), so they can both enjoy the fruits of my hard work. The two sets cost me half a year or more to make.
