Advent, Day 14
Dec. 14th, 2020 05:22 pmToday was my penultimate baking day. Only two sorts today, this one and this one, but since I didn't get up in time after a semi-sleepless night, it took half the morning. (Pictures tomorrow.)
The banana cookies produced such an ungodly amount that I had to offer the excess to various neighbours, all of whom were very happy with it, except one stupid b*tch who refused. I won't give her anything in the future, ever! The others were more than willing to take what was offered, thus I'm a very popular person in my neighbourhood right now. Of course, to the two families with young children/grandchildren I brought a large plate with a wide selection of my baking, not just the banana cookies - but that was because of the children!
Anyway, I had a masked open-air meeting with my friend Evie again, exchanging Christmas gifts (I'm sure we're being watched by now). I gave her a large box of Christmas cookies and a 2-person Zsolnay coffee service, which I got for my retirement but never used. We already have lots of china anyway, and neither Mum nor I are into Zsolnay. But Evie loved it and was very happy with it. She brought us a double helping of sausages, black pudding and liverwurst, which she buys on the market near her house. It's much better than what you can get in the supermarket; a lot less spicy, which is better for Mum's digestion.
So, another day that went by like nothing, and tomorrow I'll really have to go and get myself a Christmas tree before it will be too late.
My Good Things of the day:
- successful baking session;
- the look on the girl's face next door when she saw her large plate of cookies;
- meeting Evie.

Date: 2020-12-14 06:58 pm (UTC)Today has been kinda hectic for me since we're going into lockdown on Wednesday, so I had to run some unavoidable errands (technically, I also need to go downtown for a new computer mouse but I've resigned myself to having to order one online now and hope it's a good fit, not gonna battle the crowds in the middle of a pandemic while two weeks' worth of Christmas shoppers are squeezing themselves into the stores in two days)
Before lockdown news, today had been scheduled as baking day and I decided to make time for this anyway, so now we have rum balls, at least.
Maybe, wth some luck, I can still bring some stuff to the SOS Kinderdorf charity store tomorrow before they have to shut down.

Date: 2020-12-14 08:26 pm (UTC)Most of my neighbors would never bother bringing me any cookies, maybe they're not friendly because I don't have kids?
