I had another intense baking day, starting shortly before 8am and finishing a little after 1pm, with about half an hour for breakfast.

These are the results: Ingwerkracher (white and pink), Kokoskipferln, Financiers and Chocolate-almond cookies with red currant jam filling:

When everything was finished and safely stored in tin boxes, I watched old re-runs of the GBBO (Mary Berry era), had a long, delightful chat with my friend Evie on the phone and wrote a list of the cookies tried out so far. I am at #18 now. Admittedly, far from the Bavarian lady and her 106 different kinds, but - unlike her - I'm not a trained, professional baker. I'm quite content with my products so far... and I'm not done yet!

I'll give myself a two-day break before continuing, though. *g*

My Good Thing of the day:
Having successfully finished the baking.

It was my consolation prize for not being able to go to Vienna, for not having any Christmas concerts and for missing out on all the Christmas markets.

All of them look so good! We made Anisplätzchen yesterday but that recipe didn't work at all, the dough was far too dry, and the cookies look like an eldritch abomination on top of being as hard as bricks.

I tried Anisplätzchen once, back in the Stone Age, but they tasted of sawdust.

I made ones who turned out nice in the past but it must have been a different recipe.

Yeah, good recipes must be cherished and guarded jealously like the treasure that they are. ;))

Everything looks so good! 18 seems like a very large number of varieties to me--are these all old favorites or are you trying some new ones this year as well?

A couple of them are old favourites, but I'm trying out quite a few new ones this year. Since we can't go to the Austrian Christmas market this year due to the dratted plague, I spent the money for the train tickets on baking ingredients instead; things I wouldn't buy otherwise because they're so outrageously expensive. Like all kinds of nuts. Now I'm baking up a storm and will eventually give away most of it as gifts to my poor, overworked colleagues who wouldn't have the time and the energy for extensive baking.

Those look delicious!!! I'm really impressed at how pretty they are, too.

I have a friend who is an excellent baker and I'm always happy when she brings me cookies or rolls or slices of pie. I'm sure your friends are very very happy with what you make for them!

IMO it is the best gift, ever. People like it, then they eat it, so it won't collect dust on some shelves until they can discreetly get rid of it, as it often happens with other gifts. ;))

Edited 'cos my grammar sucks.
