Today was sacrificed to housework. Mum decided that it was time to change the beds, therefore we also laundried the armchair and rug covers (don't laugh, it's not my idea to have those) and do half the weekly laundry anyway. Plus, I made [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat's amazing ginger-carrot soup and Mum made chicken paprikas. We were duly drained afterwards.

But I talked to Heidi (Little Emma's grandmother), who then sent us totally sweet videos about Emma and her big brother Theo, and later with my friend Alex, so I had my bright spots, too. I even managed to shoehorn in a few paragraphs of writing in-between.

Tomorrow industrial amounts of baking are on the programme. I'm trying to conserve what strength I still happen to have. *g*

My Good Thing of the day:

I've just learned that one of my hand-made Christmas cards safely arrived in the UK. Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] elwenlj, to let me know!
Has anyone else already get theirs? Please alert me if you do, I just want to know that they didn't get lost. :)

Why do you pensioners always have to do all the housework in one day? ;-)

As I said, it wasn't my idea. It works like this: I decided to do something, at which Mum promptly realizes that there are half a dozen other things that just have to be done right away, and so by the time I come to my own things to do, the day is half gone and I'm run rugged.

I am so glad I shared the soup recipe. We had soup the other day for our main meal - I had the carrot and ginger but S2C is not a big fan of carrots so I made lentil for him - so we each had enough for two days :)

We like to cook enough for two days, too. It makes life so much easier.

Wow! All that laundry. I'm putting a load of clothes through at the moment, but I'm not that industrious.

What is a "rug cover"?

We have dark red rugs (fake Persian stuff), the middle of which is white, with patterns. Mum's idea of keeping the white parts clean is to cover the middle of each rug with some old kitchen towels that were never used for their actual purpose. Consequently, the living room is one huge death trap, with countless very good chances to get caught in the things and break our necks, but I simply can't talk Mum out of the idea. She even irons the dratted things!
