Because we all know how addictive those can be.

So, behold my first attempt at the pecan-caramel cookies (with a dash of chocolate chips, just because). They are yummy, although a bit sweet for my taste. Must be the maple syrup. Or the brown sugar. Or the soft caramel bonbons. Or all three together. Anyway, Mum approved, so it's good. *g*

As for the crafting addiction, I found this and couldn't resist.

I'm up to eight little boxes so far. It will be something of a race to finish the whole thing during the next nine days, but I'm giving it a try. Mine is going to be the more colourful variation because I've got lots of little scraps left over from the (still unfinished) Christmas card project. We'll see.

the Advent book is extremely cute!

The pecan-caramel cookies look very tasty. After a week of no writing and no baking both despite wanting to do both every day, I finally managed to bake some Vanillekipferl today (and now hopefully writing will follow tonight)

Vanillekipferl are on my Christmas baking plan as well. They are simply tradition.

Good luck with your writing!

That's a really nifty idea with the Advent book, and I preferred the Santa book as it was more varied inside, so sounds like a good way to use up the scraps.

That was the basic idea, yes. I hate waste and besides, craft paper is quite pricey over here, so I keep all my scraps. I think my Advent book is going to be really... err... colourful. *g*

A bit, yeah, but not overly so, fortunately. The recipe asks for half a teaspoon of salt added to the mix and it balances out the sweetness.

They are very yummy, but get a bit hard as time goes on.

Love the Advent Calendar Book. A great way to make use of leftover papers!

Actually, the cookies aren't as sweet as the ingredients would suggest. My only problem with them is that they get quite hard in a day or two, so not for Mum after the first day.

Leftover papers always need to be used sensibly. They are too pretty to waste them. ;))

I have a sister who loves it when the cookies get hard, because she dunks them in her coffee!

That was our last resort, too, but it changes the taste considerably.
