Long and boring story behind the cut; read it at your own risk.
I didn't sleep well last night. My internet connection went away after midnight, and while my iPad mini managed to connect to some random wifi for a while, I was anxious about its return. When I first woke up at 2.15am, the mini was still connected. When I woke up for the second time, it no longer was, and I had no connection at my regular wifi, either.
I got so nervous that I booted up my geriatric laptop to see whether the internet was down for good or the mini was being skittish. It sometimes refuses to reconnect when the internet goes away - which, unfortunately, has happened a few times since Vodafone ate my old provider. Geriatric laptop managed to download my mail, so I concluded that the internet must have recovered while I slept. The mini still refused to connect.
I got really upset about that, since geriatric laptop needs approximately twelve minutes to load Firefox, and even if it manages, the pages freeze every other moment. I do have IE on it, but an older edition, and my antivirus programme refuses to connect to most of the pages I regularly visit, stating that the IE is no longer safe. Perhaps so, but it it a lot faster than Firefox, at least on the laptop.
When it was nearly time for me to disembark on my food run and was half-ready to connect IT guy next door, the mini suddenly realized that yay, there's internet again and has been working since then normally. I hope it will behave for the foreseeable future. *fingers crossed*
In my relief, I went a tad overboard with my shopping. That's the danger of sales: you always spend more money than your originally planned because getting things cheaper than usual is... errr... inspiring. Which is the ideology behind the whole thing, I guess.
Fortunately, Mum was her forgiving self. She said: "Oh, don't worry. Thank God we can afford it." Besides, one can always use more baking supplies. And buying some imported raspberries instead of ice cream is a healthy decision, right?
Other than that, I talked to my friend Erna on the phone, gave the mask-making kit I had bought weeks ago in a fit of madness a try and prepared a few things for tomorrow's baking. Oh, and I'm about to watch telly tonight. The Great British Bake-Off is back, and foolish me I've already missed the first two parts.
