Or not so moderately, as the case might be.

Ever since Vodafone swallowed UPC, my decades-long internet and television provider, we had nothing but anger with them. Small annoyances, granted, but still annoyances. Now, however, they've topped everything.

Imagine this: as of 1 March 2021, they'll stop their e-mail service. Just like that. No explanation, no excuses, no nothing. And, of course, we'll still have to pay the same for the rest of their services.

Switching e-mails wouldn't be such a big problem in itself. The problem is, I'm registered with the e-mail they've provided everywhere that counts. Including government sites where I get all my tax info and other such stuff. Now I'll have to go to each and every one of these sites and change my e-mail manually. And in most cases I don't even know how to do it. I also have to employ IT guy next door to change the settings on both my main PC and my laptop because they're set up to automatically download the UPC address, that having been my primary one. I know, every ten-year-old can do these things on their own, but I'm a dinosaur and deadly afraid of making any changes on my computer because I don't know how to undo it if I mess something up.

I'm amazed by the total f*ck-up of Vodafone - they do this at a time when people are more dependent on their computers than ever before!

Nicer things in the next post as I don't want to poison them with this.

Oh, no! That is vile! I don't envy you the task you have ahead of you. Can you switch to gmail? It's free and reliable. Before I had gmail I was using Yahoo! which I didn't care for and before that AOL which was a paid service. That was years ago, tho.

I do have a working gmail address. I just use that for different purposes. Like personal correspondence. I guess I'll have to switch all the official stuff to it as well. I preferred the two things to be separated, but it seems I have no choice.

It just seems so random. Are they a monopoly or can you get a different provider altogether?

I have a gmail as a spare. In my case it mainly gets the LJ notifications for a long reason involving LJ not recognising my manx email, and my provider not recognising LJ

I'm still trying to understand the logic of an internet provider not offering mail service. Honestly.

What? That seems ridiculous. That’s outrageous. What a hassle to have to go and change all your email addresses. Just thinking about all the websites where you have to use an email!!!
I have seperate gmail accounts for personal, business, family etc. I have four set up for me, and one for my mum. She can’t even receive her power bills without an email, but she doesn’t have a computer, smart phone or tablet.

Yeah, I know. Especially the official sites like the tax office and the likes.

What a pain in the butt. And how rude of your internet provider to drop e-mail service. That's ridiculous.

These big internet companies have too much power. I dread the day I ever have to change internet address. I've been using the same one for twenty years.

Oh that is just so annoying! I would be gnashing my teeth with you!

I reckon, unless someone could suggest an easy way, that I would be weeks changing mine everywhere, too.

Yeah, if I consider it, March isn't all that far away. :(
