After yesterday's activities Mum and I spent a quiet day. I love quiet days.

I started with cutting out more window frames for even more Christmas cards. I've put some variations into the existing templates, so now I can make six different versions of windows - and not only for Christmas. I'll keep one of each, so that I can make more based on them if I need some later. As H. put it, it depends on how I decorate the windows, they can be used for all kinds of cards.

Then we made lunch. Mum made apple soup and chicken paprikas, using up some chicken wings that have lazed around in the freezer for a while. I made puliszka (polenta dumplings) and tried out a brand new recipe: poppy seed and almond cookies. I originally planned to make salad, too, but I forgot. So I'll have to think about something we can eat tomorrow with salad, as not a single morsel was left over from today's lunch. *g*

I'll post a pic of the cookies tomorrow, when the icing has dried and become translucent white. Or so I hope.

I wrote a little bit to Chapter 10 but I might tear it up yet. It isn't what I had in mind and perhaps the whole scene not necessary. We'll see.

And now I'm going to type up today's recipe to send it to my friend Erna and will perhaps do some transcribing of Chapter 9 until it is time to watch River Monsters. There isn't anything else to watch. We have dozens of channels, yet nothing worth watching.

Of course, I've got all those DVDs I could watch (or re-watch). But there's this special kind of laziness in me that expects from the telly to deliver something interesting to me. Stupid, I know.

They were unexpectedly easy to make. :)
Mum and I decided to put them onto the Christmas baking list.

I love chicken paprikas and those cookies sound good. I've never had apple soup.

Apple soup is easy. All you need are peeled and cubed apples. You cook them in water (seasoned with some sugar, lemon juice and just a pinch of salt) until they are soft. Then you combine an egg yolk with a tablespoon of creme freche, put the mix through a sieve into the boiling soup, cook for another minute or so and you are done. You can add more sugar and/or lemon juice until you get just the taste you like. You can also use alternate sweateners instead of sugar, of course.

Yes, this is a thing. And it's totally fine.

Except that I waste my time with crap while I could be watching quality.

The meal sounds delicious, especially after my lunch of bland turkey burger. I've watched more television than I ever have before during this Covid year - thank goodness for Asian dramas, they've given me new and exciting.

Asian dramas aren't something I can bring up interest for, I'm afraid. "The Jewel of the Crown" has been running here for years, but I never got hooked. What I watch are baking shows, mostly, and River Monsters. I'm very angry that they no longer run "Money for Nothing", it was such a fun programme and gave me ideas for recycling.
