I took Mum to the Lidl on the next corner today. The weather was behaving itself after a full night of rain, and around noon is the best time to go out, since there aren't really many people around. Mum had been indoors for more than a week, and that's not good for her achy joints - they're doing better when she moves more.

So we hobbled down to the supermarket, so that she can take a look at all the Christmass-y stuff, which she loves. We didn't intend to buy lots of things... yeah, well, you know how that always ends. But we managed to drag everything home with us without being caught in the rain. Which, fortunately, stopped almost as soon as it started, so it's all well.

I then made an inventory list of my baking supplies, since I've been randomly buying whatever stuff was on sale for months, intending to use it for my Christmas baking. It turned out that my grated almond reserves will probably last for another year or so, and I've hoarded quite a bit of other stuff as well. Now I have my list and only grated hazelnuts and lots of eggs and margarine to buy to manage the Christmas programme. *g*

Other than that, I worked a tiny bit on my mini-dolls, talked to my friend Evie on the phone and now I'm about to transcribe some stuff for Sleeping Dragons 5. Go me!

'm glad you got some out time without the rain messing it up. We did our holiday buying this weekend. We need to start on our fruitcakes soon.

Fruitcakes have to be made well in advantage, haven't they? I usually bake German-style biscuits (cookies) for both Christmas and Easter. They, too can be made in advantage - depending on the recipe, two to four weeks earlier. That way, I always have a nice selection for the feast.

Honestly, I'm about a month late on them.

Best if it's months instead of weeks.

I wish my recipes were like that. At least some of them. It would make time management a lot easier.

Haha ... the almonds never last long here as we almost always substitute hazelnuts in recipes with almonds ... we just like the taste more!

I had no idea I had so much almonds! I keep them in the freezer, so that they won't go - err, how do you say "runzelig" in English? - and to be safe from moths, and I just kept buying small packages whenever they were on sale... *g*

It is too early! I always found it weird. Baking supplies, however, are good to have well in advantage.

That was a very productive day! Getting out for a walk, if only to the local shop, is always a good way to keep the joints moving. I haven't been doing that enough of late.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I generally don't get enough exercise. Sewing obviously doesn't count.

It's simply impossible to look at Christmassy stuff without buying anything!! ;-)

Glad your Mum was finally able to go out with you. It's so depressing having to stay indoors for long periods. Luckily for me, our state is one of the few where the Covid-19 cases are decreasing instead of on the rise. Although, that most likely won't last, as students who were taking virtual classes are now required to go back into the classroom. Also, yesterday was election day and most of the candidates I voted for most like will not win - sigh. It seems my state wants less restrictions when it comes to the Coronavirus, so they've elected officials who care less about protection and more about the state of the economy and jobs. So, more will go back to work and spread the virus and the whole cycle will start all over again.

The same over here. People are idiots. Only that the cases have been rising steadily ever since school re-started in September. People went to holidays, to places like Croatia, despite the situation being much worse there, and brought home little souvenirs in the form of virus infection.
