I spent all evening re-reading nine-year-old entries over at [livejournal.com profile] antigwenallies. I really don't know why I'm doing it. I just can't stop.

Anyway, I managed to write a good chunk for SD5's 6th chapter - in true Soledad fashion I'm writing three different chapters at the same time - and found those Mary Berry recipes online I wanted to try, so it's a success.

Also, my friend Evie dropped by to bring us some more apples, so I even got to see her and talk to her for about five minutes, masked and from a distance... *sigh* Will life ever be anything remotely like it used to be?

At least, you are able to chat from a distance. I rarely see any of my friends these days, except for family. Thank goodness for social media.

Today was actually nice and warm, bright and sunny. Not surprising, as we usually have good weather right before a storm, and there is yet ANOTHER storm heading our way. This time, it is predicted to come in as a major (category 4, 5 being highest) storm. However, it is about 3 days away and although the predicted track says it is headed directly towards me, my state, my city, it could, as has happened in the past, go in another direction. I hope so, although I hate wishing misfortune on others. This has been on of the most active hurricane seasons that we have had in years. Must be due to global warming.

You mean the global warming that - according to some politicians - doesn't exist?
Fingers crossed that you'll be spared. *hugs*

Heh, don't get me started. Louisiana’s Mississippi Delta is the 7th largest delta in the world, home to over 2 million people and hundreds of species of animals, birds and other wildlife, including many endangered species. However, Louisiana is losing the equivalent of one football field (100 yards) of coastal wetland every hour. Dams and levees built to control flooding have reduced sediment flow from the Mississippi River and the sea washes land away faster than it can be replenished. Oil and water extraction (and Louisiana is an oil rich state) have caused delta land to sink. While some of the loss can be contributed to natural cause, much more as you can see is man induced. Sea-level rise, one of the greatest global contributors, is not only from ice cap melting, but also from sea warming due to increased greenhouse gas emissions. But yeah, according to those idiot politicians, global warming does not exist.
