Look, Jillian! For you!
Captain Julien Picard
(Patrick Stewart)
Julien Picard was born in Paris as the second son of a French archaeologist and a patrician lady of Nîmes, Yvette Gressard. His older brother, Jacques-Yves Picard, is a marine biologist and does deep-sea research. He lives with his wife, Celeste, and their son, Philippe, on the deep-sea colony Atlantis. Julien has been in love with his sister-in-law for decades, which caused the break-up with his own wife, Eline Rose.
Julien Picard was the commanding officer of the USS Stargazer for twenty-two years. During this time had begun his affair with Beverly Howard, a medical doctor, who later married Jack Crusher. The marriage was later annulled, as soon as medical tests proved that Picard was the biological father of the Crushers’ daughter, Leslie. Picard himself only learned about his fatherhood when he was given the captaincy of the Enterprise and Bev Crusher came on board as the new ship’s CMO. Picard had no other children and he had difficulties to deal with the sixteen-year-old Leslie, but he renewed his affair with the mother of his daughter right away.
From his patrician mother Picard inherited the passion for antique relicts. His collection is kept on Risa where he has a large mansion, including a vinery, where Risian employees produce his favourite drink, Calvados. Both the mansion and the vinery is overseen by his widowed mother.
When he took over the Enterprise, Captain Julien Picard was fifty-six year old and on the peak of his Starfleet career.
(Note: Patrick Stewart is terrific in his role, but much too British to really be a Frenchman. So I made Julien Picard more of a bohemian character.)
