Meaning that small accomplishments are still progress, right?

I've managed to get so far with Mum's old/new phone that she actually can be called on it. I still haven't figured out how to make calls *from* the phone - obviously, I'll have to wrestle several more rounds with the user's manual. *sigh*

At least I've almost finished the beehive page for Little Emma's quiet book. I've sewn on all the behives and made the bees themselves. It took me all morning, making the wee beasties, and half the afternoon to applicate the hives. I still have to make the bear and the honey pot, though.

I also cooked lunch. The apple pancakes (or rather blinis?) were yummi, and so was the ginger-carrot soup. I originally planned to do some writing or transcribing, too, but I felt slightly unmotivated. I always do when I haven't tanlked to anyone but shop assistants for days.

Check out the next entry and you'll get to see them. Granted, they are slightly odd-shaped, but sewing such tiny objects by hand (and with my sausage fingers at that) wasn't easy!

Good news on the phone front. It always takes me ages to work out new phones. I could not find the 'keypad' on my smart phone for ages!

That's why I'm glad we had this old phone lying in a drawer for half a decade or more. I don't think Mum could get used to a smartphone.

Would be good if she could call with it as well, though. Hope you'll get there!

As soon as I can get someone less technically challenged than I am. *g*

That would assume the ability of getting on one's feet in the first place. ;)

New-to-you phones are always a nightmare. I still have a habit of cutting people off rather than answering if they ring me on my mobile and I've had it for over 18 months :(

This new/old phone is quite capricious. After 10 minutes or so, it routinely blocks the buttons, so I have to unblock them every time.

Ginger carrot soup sounds really yummy! Could you send me your recipe?

It is actually [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat's recipe, but I can tell you how I make it, since we don't use chillies and stuff. You should probably ask her for the original recipe.

Anyway, here we go:

1. I cut 3-4 carrots to small cubes and roast them in a saucer with some oil, some onions and a bit of grated ginger.
2. I make about 1.5 litres of veggie soup (water and 2 Suppenwürfel - don't know what they are called in English).
3. I mix the two, add some more ginger, salt, pepper and some paprika powder (unless I forget about that like I did last time) and cook it until the carrots are soft.
4. I puree the whole think with a Botmixes (again, no idea what it's called in English).
5. I put it back onto the fire, add a generous amount of cooking cream and boil it for about one minute.

And that's it, lately. More seasoning can be added according to personal taste.
