A few weeks ago Mum dropped her phone and it promptly died on her. Today, I finally got the chance to go to the Telekom shop and have the SIM card switched into another (old, push-button) phone we've had for ages. Coming home, I've managed to charge the phone, so it obviously works, but couldn't do anything else with it. Tomorrow there will be much studying of the user's manual with a magnifying glass (the print is really unreasonably small). If that doesn't help, I might have to go to school on Monday and ask one of the sixth-grade pupils to help me. *sigh*

But since I was in the Allee shopping centre already because of the phone (that's the closest Telekom shop), I hopped onto the escalator and went to the second floor, where the craft shop is. I bought some lovely seaming material for Little Emma's quiet book. Buying craft supplies is always therapeutic.

Inspired by that, I've cut out all the shapes for the page with the teddy, the bee hives and the bees. I might start working on it tomorrow. Yay!

At least they'd have good eyes - good enough to be able to read the user's manual.

Craft of any kind is therapeutic. When combined with being able to buy stuff it is great fun!

I understand about the phone. It's been my experience that many modern tech. doesn't even come with instructions beyond, "This is the on/off button."

It took me a while to identify the on/off button. Today I made a bit of progress and reached the phase in which one can call Mum's old/new phone (we had several 10sec conversations), but I still haven't figured out how to make calls on it. Or how to order names to the saved phone numbers. But progress is progress, right?

Everything is fine print to me these days - sigh. I had to buy a new phone recently as the battery on my old one finally died. Not only was the new one expensive, it seems a down grade from the old one. And, since what I purchased had to be compatible with my phone plan, the choices I had were extremely limited and, of course, pricey. At least, the plan itself is cheap, relatively speaking. Good luck with your Mum's phone and grats on Emma's book progress.

As my eye doctor put it: we age and our eyes age with us. ;)
Small print is evil. So are these modern gadgets that can't work on the same principle as previous models.
