Why do I have to attract self-righteous, judgemental idiots everywhere? I'm used to it on FF.Net, but now they've hunted me down on AO3 as well? It's really depressing that when I do get a comment once in a blue moon, it has to be something like this.

Lorena on Chapter 6 Thu 27 Aug 2020 04:17AM CEST

I'm curious on why do you insist on always speaking ill about Cassiopia,Serina and Sheba? I kinda get it about Serina, but the other two?

Soledad on Chapter 6 Thu 27 Aug 2020 07:15PM CEST

I didn't like Cassiopeia from the very beginning because I have always been a dedicated fan of Athena. Besides, not only is she the ultimate opportunist, she left Starbuck for Cain, only to worm herself back into his graces as soon as Cain was gone, and she was all to eager to believe that Starbuck would murder someone because of a Triad game. And don't even let me start about the whole Chameleon disaster!

As for Sheba, her whole attitude grated on my nerves from the first moment she showed up. But that's just how these characters appeared to me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Lorena on Chapter 6 Fri 28 Aug 2020 01:42AM CEST

Yes everybody is entitled to their opinions and we can differ in our opinions, that is Ok, but I am also entitled to say I don't agree with yours too. You sound defensive toward your opinion and offensive towards them and whoever likes them and that rubs me the wrong way but whatever.
And I actually was the other way around as I never liked Athena. I think it is just the perceptions we project on the characters on what we think they supposedly are, but it doesn't mean they are true, for all we know. They are just that, characters subjected to interpretation.

Soledad on Chapter 6 Fri 28 Aug 2020 02:03PM CEST

Exactly. And that's why I don't *need* to defend my view on them. You've asked and I answered honestly; and that's it.

So, can anybody tell me why my first answer was defensive or offensive or both? I'm honestly fed up with people who keep telling me how I ought to see certain characters (assuming that we see them differently). I'll wait if the self-entitled "critic" lets things go, but if they keep arguing, I'll simply delete their comments. I don't have to put up with this kind of idiocy, IMO. Especially as the person probably could be my grandchild (at least mentally).

I wish people who supposedly do read and like my stories would be this eager to comment and discuss things.

Addendum: The self-important idiot in question just couldn't bear not having the last word, so I deleted the entire thread. I wonder if they'll show up again. Can you block people on AO3?

I'm all for different opinions on characters. But in my opinion, the comments section on a fanfic nobody is forcing you to read is not the place for it.

Try to ignore them? Difficult, I know

Well, if she insists on coming back, I certainly won't answer. Just delete her comments.

It's good to hear from you again, BTW! How are you doing?

Mixed - I've only been out of the street once since last September - buses were cut long before lockdown, and I couldn't afford taxis. I got a pension increase to cover that in February - then lockdown happened!
Now I really need to be here - my house is being renovated, and the work has to stop if I want to go out. also the workmen need access They are very helpful - but the noise andmess are horrendous
I was ve ry glad of the extra money during lockdown, for cleaning materials and paying extra for deliveries, because I didn't qualify for supermarket slots. Also, of course, no buses means less risk of infection!

I know what you mean. We just had 3/4 of the flat re-painted last summer but it was a trial. You are wise to keep isolated as much as you can. This dratted virus is far from gone yet, and one shouldn't take unnecessary risks.

OMG, this "Lorena" doesn't even recognize that she holds two contradictory positions at the same time! (These are just characters and we're all entitled to our own feelings about them; other people's feelings about them are *wrong*!)

I'm glad you deleted the thread--it doesn't sound like she was even listening. But I know how frustrating it is to see you have a new comment and then find out, yuck, it's something like this!
