A slow day

I spent all morning working on my second drawstring bag. Since (as mentioned before) I've changed the original design, that means I had a lot more work to do on it as expected, but I still think it's better so. Still haven't finished, but it looks very pretty already; much more subdued than the eye-watering retro piece, a pale blue with white dots, really lovely. All I have to do now is to attach the filling to the outside and look out from some drawstring. *fingers crossed*

Mum volunteered to cook today, so she spend all morning in the kitchen, poor dear. Chicken soup, Wiener Schnitzel and salad de boeuf are all dishes that need a lot of work. I tried to talk her out of it, as we still had leftover carrot-ginger soup from yesterday, and I offered to make Topfenknödel, but once she's made up her mind, she can't be stopped.

After lunch, we watched Paul Hollywood's Pies&Puds and Paul Hollywood's City Bakes together. We both love to watch him kneading dough. *g* Besides, we get to see beautiful cities (Bergen yesterday, Jerusalem today) and absolutely gorgeous cakes and pies and breads. The only disadvantage is that it makes us both hungry for yummy baked goods, and it is definitely too hot to bake.

Oh, and I've put up the next chapter of "Magic Mirror" to AO3.

Your lunch sounds really lovely. We had a bbq again today - as usual in summer. Also the only chance to get my dad to do something in the household!

Sounds like a yummy lunch, I'm quite envious.

A shame that you couldn't visit us before the dratted virus took over. We'd have fed you properly. ;))

That does sound yummy.
Paul is cool, I should start watching GBBO again. I miss Mary and Mel and Sue though. I tried watching a few eps with the new people but I could not get into them.

Neither could I. I especially break out in hives from that guy with the greasy black hair.

He looks like a plastic shop window puppet - a particularly ugly one. I loved Meg and Sue... and Mary, of course. She's been baking longer than all the others have been alive, and she is great fun.

I've been told Mary wrote or co-wrote something like 75 (!) cookbooks.

I love her TV-programmes, too, where she shows her favourite recipes.

Sounds delicious. Last night I dreamed I ate baklava (you mentioning pastry in Jerusalem reminded me off my dream.)

I'm not sure it's for the same reason *g*, but I used to love watching Mum knead bread dough. For a short period, when I was in my early teens, she used to make all our bread and it was heavenly to walk into the house after school to that wonderful smell.

I wish my oven would be hot enough to make my own bread. I made it once or twice by friends who had a good electric oven, but in mine it's always burned on the outside and raw in the inside. I gave up on it a long time ago. :(

I love to watch baking shows, but am always hungry after. They are on my "not to do" list until I reach my weight goal - one day - sigh. All the meals at your house sound delicious, I am so envious. Both you and your Mum must be excellent cooks!

I'm glad I've discovered this 16-hours-fasting diet. I can eat whatever I want in the remaining 8 hours, but still eat less than before and lose weight.
