Flattened by the heat

It's still very hot here. July, of course, so not really surprising, but that doesn't make it any easier.

I used the relatively cool hours in the morning to finish these, using up my last cherry stones:



After that, I barely had enough strength to add a few paragraphs to my ongoing story - then I was totally flattened. Actually, I even slept half an hour or so. We ate leftovers from yesterday, and then dozed away in front of the telly. High summer definitely isn't my favourite season. *sigh*

We are lucky here as we still haven't had any heatwave...but one is supposed to start from tomorrow. I'm like you, when it's not I have no energy!

I keep telling myself that July is the natural time for hot weather. I still don't have to like it, though...

As a child, I had this dream of becoming an anthropologist and discovering previously unknown native tribes in the South-American rain forest. I even started learning Spanish, since that's the language spoken in the area (unless you go to Brazil, of course). But all too soon I had to realize that the South-American rain forest isn't really suitable for someone who can't even bear European summers well. And that was the end of my childhood dream.

The heat and humidity have been terrible here this summer. I was feeling guilty about feeling so tired and lazy all the time but now I know others are experiencing the same amount of lethargy so I feel bit better about needing frequent naps. But I hate feeling like I don't want to do anything.

Air conditioning is a must here, so it is usually not a problem to weather the heat. Not having it, though, I'd be a wet noodle. Stay cool!
