I visited my friend Elise today, to deliver Baby Book #3 and to pick up the cherry stones she collected for me (they are making sour cherry wine, so it was a huge pile of stones). We had a lovely talk for about an hour and a half. She's such a darling; we worked together for almost 24 years, I saw her children grow up (they learned in the same school), and now her grandchildren. She has one more year to work, then she'll retire, too. I hope we'll be able to have more time for each other then, although with three grandchildren, elderly parents and in-laws and an orchard she'll be pretty busy, even as a retiree.

Both she and her hubby (who was also home for some 10 minutes) were ecstatic about the baby book, which is a great joy for me. I also took the patchwork cards with me for Elise to select whichever she wants and she took two of them.

Coming home, I spent the afternoon sterilizing the cherry stones. It is always tedious work, as you have to boil them first to get rid of as much remaining fruit flesh as possible (I boiled them three times, each time for about 20 minutes), and then you have to put them in the oven (lowest grade) to dry them completely, or else they would collect mould. It is a lot of (boring) work, but it must be done, so I brought it behind me.

Tomorrow Louise and I are going to finish the pillow cases, so that I can fill them. I might even work a bit on the drawstring bags; we'll see. It isn't urgent, after all.

She is such a delightful person! We speak on the phone about once a week, but meeting in person is something else.

I'm glad you had a nice visit with your friend. It's always fun to see them when you haven't gotten together for a bit. Hopefully you and Louise will have a good day sewing tomorrow.

Oh yes, we were busy. But then the thing with Mum happened, and suddenly the day wasn't so good anymore.

That sounds like a lovely, if tiring, day. Meeting up with friends is a bigger treat now that we have had to refrain for so long!

That is very true. Before, I at least had the choir practice, for which I went back to school twice a day and could see my friends, even if only for a short time.

Wow, you guys have been friends and colleagues for a long time. That's wonderful. And, how nice that she lives close by.

Yes, that is a definite bonus, seeing how huge this city is.

Your little pillow sound lovely...if a lot of work. Catching up with friends is always a joy.

Yes, it's a lot of work, but I've finished all the prepared pillows today... and still have cherry stones for one more. I'll have to dig out my fabric rests again.

We named the washing machine and the vacuum cleaner, too. To make things even crazier, those two are called Louise, too. I don't know where it came from, but we consider them our house servants, and as such, they deserve names. *g*
