Or on the first day of the week, depending on your point of view.

In any case, we had lots of slow, gentle rain during the night, with the much appreciated result that temperatures have dropped quite a bit today; at least in the morning. So I found that it was the perfect day to bake some walnut brioches. Which are no brioches at all, since brioches have lots of butter and these haven't any, so I don't know why they are called that. But they are yummy, so I made half a batch.

Then Mum and I watched Mass on German TV (because the Hungarian one was horrible once again), and then I started the Big Sewing Project (TM). Actually, I just stitched together lots of parts by hand, so that they would be ready when I set up Louise again, but it was 6pm when I was finally done. Originally, I only wanted to make one drawstring bag, but the lining stuff Mum dug out was so large I decided not to let the rest go waste. Now I have three bag insides stitched together but only two outsides and two sets of casing. I'll have to choose another piece of fabric for those. I have a very nice, coffee-themed piece that would be large enough, but it's so lovely that I'm afraid I won't be able to give the bag away if I used it. *g*

Weather is warming up again, so I'm really, really glad that I not only finished the pre-sewing of the things (well, almost) but also managed to write a little. All in all, I'm content with my achievements today.

Sounds like you made good use of the cool temperatures. I did a mess of baking too. Have a great evening

You must put bearable temperatures to use as long as they last. What did you bake?

I baked two loaves of bread and some peach cobbler for dessert tonight.

Yum! I wish I had a better oven, so that I could make bread, too. Alas, mine never gets hot enough for it.

I couldn't imaging not have a properly functioning oven. Management would be hearing from me.

It does function properly - within its own parameters. It is just a lousy construction; and I can't even blame anyone as I actually chose the dratted thing a decade or two ago. Of course, I didn't know that the oven would be such crap.

Nice to have some relief from the heat. Short-lived, though, I imagine.

Right now, it is bearable, most of the day. For some reason, it gets really hot around 6 am. I don't why. It was never that way before.
