So, I had a relatively calm day between two dentist appointment. Except that the bathroom tap has now really gone down the river: we no longer can properly close it. Which means that we lose approximately two litres of warm water each hour. Of course we collect the dripping in bowls and then use to wash our hands or flush the toilet with the water, but it still is a criminal waste - and our usually so reliable janitor seems to have vanished from the face of the earth. Tomorrow, we won't be home for at least five hours, so a lot of water will be wasted in our absence. *sigh*

Other than water saving, I wrote a bit to two different chapters of "Magic Mirror", cooked lunch and worked a tiny, tiny bit on the Shabby Chic journal.

So do I, honestly, or else our water bill will skyrocket beyond normal dimensions.

Shit! I think that definitely qualifies as an emergency situation, hope you can get the plumber out there really fast.

Finding an honest plumber is something of an art in these days. But neighbour lady's ex-hubby will (hopefully) come over tomorrow and take a look.

Yeah, in certain jails the method is used to drive the inmates strong, boinking mad. I'm not far from that state myself. Especially during the night.

Plumbing question: Is the leaking tap your sink tap? Separate from your bathtub? Is there a shut-off faucet under the sink you could turn off the water to the sink until the janitor gets there?

And why is it that the tap goes flooey just when the janitor is nowhere to be found!! I hope it gets fixed soon. Good grief.

Steady progress on the writing! hooray! add in a bit of cooking and crafting - it adds up to a nice day, tolerable considering the bathroom tap situation.

The water can only be shut off from the toilet, but that would mean that we wouldn't have warm water in the kitchen, either. I don't know what happened to the janitor; perhaps his phone broke or whatnot.

What a plumbing predicament. I hope you've heard from the janitor. (haven't peeked at your posts today... will catch up in a few minutes.)

Oh dear. That is a waste. Sounds like it needs a new washer, so it won't be a big job...once you can find someone to do it.

Our neighbour lady promised to send over her ex-hubby tomorrow. He does all the small plumbing jobs in her flat, too. We've managed to save most of the water, only that we use it for things we would otherwise use cold water for, so yeah, there is some financial burden in it...

How annoying! I hope your janitor is not off work with the virus.

I hope not; in that case he would have some recorded message on his phone. I think his phone is simply broke; but it is very inconvenient that he can't be reached. He has six ten-storey buildings in his care, with 200+ flats each, so it is definitely not good.

Yikes, that's not good. Here you pay and arm and a leg for water, so folks are pretty careful. I would reach under the sink and turn the water off while you are gone.

I don't dare to manipulate anything on the system. It is 40+ years old and one can't know how it would react. I tried to shut off warm water entirely but the tap didn't move and I was too afraid to force it.

Water leaks can add up to a lot $$ wise. We had a toilet where the water would not stop running. Before we realized what was going on, our water bill had doubled. Lucky yours is a slow leak. Hopefully, yours will be a quick fix.

It was, fortunately. I hope the effect will last.
