Wow, that rhymes, too! Go me!

Anyway, Mum's been complaining about how much she was missing the shops during the lockdown. She loves wandering around, taking a look at everything and deciding on the spot what we ought to buy - outside the basic necessities, of course. We couldn't go together recently because senior citizens beyond 65 were only allowed between 9pm and midday, and that was the exact time when younger ones were forbidden in the groceries, pharmacies and drug stores.

Now that this particular restriction has been lifted we went to the Auchan supermarket today. It was fun, especially as the weather behaved, meaning that there was fairly strong wind but no rain, and while Mum is fragile like a little bird, I'm massive enough to anchor her. *g* Afterwards we had coffee from an automatic coffee machine, sitting on a bench in front of the supermarket. It felt like holidays, really. We brought some frozen Hawaii pizza home, so we didn't need to cook, either.

In other news I gave my first cherry stone pillow the trial run today. I don't really know if it will help my poor back at all, but it was a supremely pleasant feeling! So I've cobbled together the pillow cases for several more pillows to spread the pleasure. Tomorrow I'll set up my mini sewing machine again and sew the things properly. I discovered that I can regulate the speed much better if I use the foot pedal, so that's what I'll do in the future.

And that was my day, basically. Time flies when you're having fun!

Oh, yes! But she was happy, so it was worth the adventure.

I am so glad that things are better enough for your Mum to go with you - it must have been good for both of you to do such a 'normal' thing together.

I have a mini sewing machine - at least I usually have, but it has been at my daughter's all over lockdown, and she says she has got a lot better at using it too.

I still have my problems with mine, but I'm making bold steps towards the high goal of sewing in a straight line. *g*
And yeah, it was a great trip, even if a short one. Just what she could manage well enough after over three months of quarantine.

When I went to the grocery store day before yesterday and was on line waiting to get in, the guy who was working there and keeping an eye on the line was letting in people 65 and older first and I noticed there were several people on line behind me who looked a lot older than 65 but they weren't going in. I'm not 100% sure if they were just being polite or they were too vain to admit to being over 65.

Well, Mum turned 88 in January and I'll turn 64 in October, so we just didn't fit into the same slot. It was annoying, as I didn't let her go alone due to her bad knee and achy shoulder and stuff, plus her eyes aren't the best, either. She does well enough when I'm with her and always states that she could, actually, go alone... I just never had a moment of peace if she truly did. Fortunately, we live together so I can boss her a bit if needs must be. Save for the times when she's bossing me, which is about 90 per cent of all times. ;))

Ah, but did you go to the Lindt shop? Or is that saved for next time?

The Lindt shop is in the opposite direction. But the opportunity will come. :)

I'm glad to hear that your mother was able to go out today. My mum was quite miserable when she couldn't go out to shop. She needed that daily stimulation. I think she's better now she can go out.

Glad the pillow seems to work okay for you. I hope it will continue in the future.

Isn't it nice to just have a bit of normal again? Or as normal as we are likely to see for a while longer..

Always nice to shop with two instead of one, glad you could take your Mum today. Also, happy that the cherry stone pillows are a success.
