So far, I've finished the cover and the first page. I'm putting the pictures under the cut, so that poor [livejournal.com profile] elwenlj can choose not to take a look. I'm terribly sorry, but I actually recycled one of the beautiful cards she sent me. It had the very decoration elements I was looking for but couldn't get anywhere. Elwen, I hope you can forgive me! [is rueful]

The front cover (the little tag "Great news" is from Elwen):

The inside of the front cover; the tag with the stork is a ready-made one from a Stamperia double-sided sheet I bought. The inscription says: She's arrived (it's for a baby girl, obviously):

Page 1 - The flap is the actual re-used card from Elwen, complete with the beaded butterfly. It was just perfect for my purpose, although I'm a bit ashamed about using it. The inscription says: "The Wonder of Life". The little tag belonged to the same Stamperia sheet as the big one with the stork.

Page 1 - with the flap open. Basically, it's baby statistics and milestones (aka firsts). As you could see above, I made a serious mistake. The flap ought to cover everything that's inside, but by the time I realized it, the glue has already taken and I couldn't remove it without ruining everything. *sigh*

And finally, the inside of the back cover. I left the outside undecorated, as the paper I used to cover it is so pretty I didn't want to hide it. You can glimpse it on the first picture. Again, the envelope was part of the Stamperia sheet.

So, this is it, so far. One page done, eleven more to go. Then putting the whole thing together. But I'm actually optimistic about the project.

Yep, some things obviously never go old. Unlike people. :))

If I had sent you a card, I would love that you were able to reuse it in something else. So maybe she will too.

Oh, thank you. I am glad you aren't angry. I only butchered the one card, I swear. I just couldn't resist using the jewelled butterfly. And that amazing border.

Your baby books are such lovely keepsakes for the families - no wonder they are is such demand.

I think recycling Elwen's card is actually a lovely idea, as it becomes part of the keepsake too.

True. And knowing the recipient it will be kept for a very long time. :)

It is amazing how many shades of pink there are! And some of them even clash with each other, so I have to be careful.
