Mostly because we do the weekly laundry in the morning and I've got lots to watch on the telly in the afternoon. Plus, there's usually the cooking, and today I also went to the Auchan supermarket for my German TV program magazine, too. Ended up buying lots of other stuff anyway, since bananas were on sale and the kind of margarine we like to buy and so on.

In any case, time flew by. I worked a tiny bit on Baby Book#3 and talked to one of the neighbours; she was on her balcony, a whole storey higher than my head, but still, it was human contact.

I also managed to find a recipe on the internet for a dish I wanted to try for a long time. Grandma used to make it: basically boiled pasta with quark that is mixed with eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, créme freche and raisins and baked in the oven. I loved it as a kid but have forgotten how to make it. Fortunately, other Hungarian families seem to be fond of it as well. I'll give it a try tomorrow. Mum's enthusiasm is overwhelming - she never liked it - but she said I can make it anyway.

Oh, and BTW, I've begun posting the already written chapters of "Magic Mirror" to [livejournal.com profile] hiddenrealms - and to AO3. Feel free to take a look.

I hope it still tastes as good as it did back then. Sometimes memories are deceiving.

Very true. Although Quarknudeln can't be too bad, even if they aren't the same as Grandma's recipe. Basically it's like pasta combined with Käsekuchen. *g*

Interesting. Never heard of the sort of dish. What's it called?

Well, I guess you can call it cheese noodles - I was told by [livejournal.com profile] elmey that there isn't a real English word for quark. It's a bit like soft cheese, only not really spicy, which is why you can make all kinds of sweet dishes of it.

That pasta dish sounds creamy and wonderful.

Considering that this was the first time ever that I made it, it turned out very well. :)
Do you want the recipe?

It does sound yummy, but I don't have any clean way of boiling pasta. In the past I have tried doing it in the microwave but it always boils over and creates a rare old mess. I have no cooker hob.

Well, I simply boil it in a large pot on the stove and it works like a charm. If you don't have a stove to begin with, that might be a problem, of course.

Days when the supermarket has extra things you hadn't planned for but really like are bonus days!

I've never really taken to the idea of sweet pasta - I think it is because of the horrible, slimy, version from school dinners.

It's a good thing I never ate at school then, isn't it? *g*
The pasta dish turned out very yummy. I don't know it was anything like the one Grandma used to make - it was more than 40 years ago that she last made it - but we were content with the outcome.

Saturdays are our chore day as well. I used to do laundry on Saturdays before going shopping, but have opted out of that the last few years. Too much on one day. I hope you are able to rest up today!

Oh, it wasn't that bad, really. I usually don't go shopping on Saturdays, but I needed that TV magazine, and since I was there already, I decided to spend a bit of money on yummy things, too. *g*

Time flies when you are having fun - so true! Time passed super slow today as we were/are waiting for bad weather that (unlike predicted) has yet to come. Not that I am complaining at the moment. However, will it come tonight while we are sleeping? Or, did the prediction go totally astray? Seems the national weather service is also short-staffed due to the Covid-19 situation and detailed forecasting has become super generalized. However, radar does not lie and there is a huge mass spinning around in the Gulf of Mexico sitting right at the bottom of my state. So, the monster is there, it is just not doing behaving like the weathermen say it should. Keep it up Cristobal! I much prefer your day :0)
