At least in Hungary, and I've promised you pictures, right? Here they are.

My mini vanilla cakes, inspired by [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat, but of course not half as pretty as hers. The icing isn't this horrible shade of pink in real life, but my iPad has its own way to interpret colours and I can't do anything about it. They are filled with green marzipan and chocolate ganache, as I've mentioned before. [livejournal.com profile] motodraconis, I think you'd like this sort of marzipan as I generously laced it with rum. *g*

Patchwork card picspam behind the tag; I don't want to overload anyone's Friends page.

These would be #23 and 24. The original picture is a bit dark as the light wasn't enough for my iPad mini, so I edited the picture a bit. I think it's better that way, but judge for yourselves.

Aka #25 through 28. I tried a different style with the pastel ones, I think they aren't that bad, actually. To bad the picture is a bit blurry, but my hand isn't as stable as it used to be 30 or so years ago.

I still have got two bagfuls of scrap paper, but I doubt that I'll be able to use up all of it. There are too many similar ones, and after a while I'll run out of ideas how to make the cards different. I think I'll give away the rest of the robots to some colleague who teaches in lower primary, she can give them to the kids as bonuses for good work.

Other than that, we watched Mass on the telly, ate leftovers for lunch and I gave some of the mini cakes to my neighbours. We need to watch our figure, after all. ;))

I don't think one can eat more than one of those cupcakes, eh?

Definitely not! That is why I gave some of them away to my neighbours.

Those look very yummy - I do love cake with marzipan and chocolate. I am resisting the urge to make more cakes for a while though; we only eat them :)

I think I could manage to choke down 1 or 6 of those cakes, marzipan notwithstanding.

I bet those cakes are amazing! I love chocolate and marzipan. My neighbors are not anywhere near that friendly, they'd never offer me cake or anything.

Which is the very reason why I give a good portion of them away to my neighbours. They have teenage kids who could polish away just about everything. ;)

That was what I thought, too. But actually, the cake is quite heavy. Next time I'll make it with Grandma's feather light sponge, and then I'll be able to eat more than one at a time.

The truth is, when trying out something new I follow the recipe at the first time, and those always result in an amount that Mum and I couldn't eat within any reasonable time. So in order to save the cake from going bad or dry out like sawdust, I rather give part of it away. When I'm a bit more practiced with a particular recipe, I usually make half a portion or even less, so that we can deal with it ourselves. *g*

Forgot to add: these neighbours are people we've lived door to door with for 43 years. We saw the kids grow up and have families on their own and all that. So yeah, we're reasonably close.

When i was still in contact with my friends I used to bake for them all the time. One of the first things I want to do when the travel ban is over is take a mango coconut cake to my best friend's boyfriend; the damn virus scare made me miss his birthday.

Oh, that's a real shame! I used to bake a lot for my colleagues as well; one of them was about to marry this month, and we planned to sing on her wedding with the choir and stuff... well, not gonna happen.

You have a great eye for colour balance. These are great. I particularly like the green tones one.

The mini cakes look so festive! And tasty:)

The cards are really pretty. I love that idea you have to give some to your friend who can, in turn, give them to the kids for rewards. That's a great idea. Teachers are always in need of items to give to the kids for rewards.

True, although I meant the remaining scraps with the robots, not the cards themselves. Those will go to the choir members, should we ever be able to restart choir practice.

Not with actual rum, I'm afraid, just with rum-flavoured baking aroma. But the taste is the same.

Oh, I see! The choir members will love the cards! I hope it won't be too long until it's safe for the choir can resume!

Great idea to make mini cakes and fill them like the big ones! I like what you did there. And I bet they tasted great!

They did. Although I must admit that they were a bit too heavy. Next time I'll use Grandma's fabulous sponge cake.
