... despite the fact that I'm not actually, you know, working any longer. Haven't been for a year and a half by now.

But today I had to go hunting again, since tomorrow all shops will be closed due to the bank holiday, and I try to keep to the old tradition of not going to the shops on Saturday. This has been established for many years because when I still was working, Saturday used to be the only day I didn't have to leave the house (as I had to take Mum to church on Sundays).

So I went to two different shops (Aldi and Lidl) and purchased food items for the next four or five days. I had to lug the whole stuff home while walking because my back is still acting up and low-floor trams are rare as hens' teeth in this area. I didn't dare risking to climb up those high and steep steps with my heavy bags. Two days ago I almost got stuck on a tram because I couldn't stand up from my seat in time. *sigh* Getting old is not for cowards.

I was so exhausted afterwards that I fell asleep three times during Forged in Fire. Twenty minutes into the programme I gave up and simply took a proper nap. That gave me the energy to cook lunch today (delicious mushroom chicken is delicious, I'm sure the Hobbits would agree), to finish the translation for which I hope I'll be paid eventually, and to make two more 'patchwork' cards.

That was my day, save for three phone chats with lovely (ex)colleagues, one short and two rather long. I'm fairly content with today's events, actually.

And these are today's cards, #19 and #20:

The good news is that I still enjoy making them. The bad news is that I still have ungodly amounts of scrap paper.

Oh, and I forgot to add: I actually had social life today! I met an ex-colleague (also retired) at Lidl (waved at each other from respectful distance and even exchanged a few words) as well as a lady from the school choir whose kids I used to teach. Again, some safe-distance communication took place (all 20 seconds of it), but it was more personal contact than I had in weeks. Well, save the visit of our cleaning lady, that is.
