Hunting day is busy day
Apr. 28th, 2020 08:21 pmEspecially after a mere five hours of sleep. Since I prefer to go to the gorcer's right when it opens, for reasons of increased safety.
In any case, I was busy afterwards, too. I made more of the 'patchwork' cards, this time in vintage style. I'm quite pleased with the outcome.

I also washed my hair, made a tiny bit of translation and baked Fanta Schnitten. It's a traybake, consisting of a cocoa sponge cake, quark creme and a jelly that is made when you cook vanilla pudding with orange lemonade instead of milk.
They look like this (it is an old photo, from an earlier attempt, but the ones I did today looke very similar):

Also, I had two long phone calls with two lovely colleagues, so I'm quite pleased with today's accomplishments.

Date: 2020-04-30 05:46 pm (UTC)Bottom layer: the sponge cake
4 eggs
80 gr white flour
100 gr sugar
Beat the egg whites until they are hard enough not to fall out of the dish. Add egg yolks and sugar alternatingly. Add flour, one tablespoons at a time. Pour the dough into a square baking tin (grease and cover in flour previously or put baking paper into it). Bake at middle height until golden brown. It took me about 5-8 minutes, since the sponge is rather thin.
Middle layer: the creme filling
200 gr quark (similar but not identical to the stuff cheesecake is made of)
100 gr butter or margarine
100 gr sugar
zest of 1 lemon
Stir butter and sugar until it's creamy. Add quark and lemon zest. Spread the cream evenly on the sponge after it has cooled completely.
Topping: the Fanta jelly
400 ml Fanta (or any other orange lemonade - it has to be the bubbly sort, though)
40 gr vanilla pudding powder
3 tablespoons of icing sugar
Mix icing sugar with vanilla pudding powder and 100 ml of the lemonade. Add the rest of the lemonade and boil the whole thing until you get a thick, creamy substance (tooks about a minute or two). Poor it over the cream layer while still hot and use a butter knife or spatula to smooth the surface.
That is basically it. When the jelly topping has cooled, you can cut the cake in pieces. It's best when it's been in the fridge for a couple of hours.
Have fun!
