Otherwise known as: if you're an idiot, you'll have to live with the consequences. *sigh*

Mum and I had this very clever plan, you see: she'd go to church (=I'll take her to church and drop her there), and while she's attending to early Mass, I'll go to Lidl and buy the stuff that's big and heavy, since Lidl is on the next corner and I won't have to carry the goodies far. Then I'll collect her, and we'll go to the Auchan supermarket and buy some more stuff, just in case. Stuff like dishwasher gel and such.

Only that we both forget that today is a national holiday (we're not much into that kind of thing) and therefore all shops are closed. We had no bread at home, save for two measly rolls, and as we planned to buy a pizza, so that we wouldn't have to cook, we had no lunch, either.

So, what can a stupid person do in such a situation? Right, make everything from scratch. Fortunately, I still had a small package of fresh yeast in the fridge (from the cancelled party), so I decided to put it to good use. As my oven is not hot enough to make actual bread, I baked these:

They turned out very yummy, with the raisins within and the almond flakes on top, so breakfast was saved. For lunch, I used the other half of the yeast to make the pizza. Tuna was planned. Only that I discovered, to my very great disappointment, that somewhen in-between we must have eaten our last tin of tuna. So it was a purely tomato pizza with tomato sauce and a bit of grated leftover cheese on top. It wasn't actually bad, mind you, just a bit too much of tomato. As if I'd spread really thick tomato soup on a piece of dough. We ate it nonetheless, but it was something of a disappointment.

So I'll have to do all the dratted shopping tomorrow, meaning that I'll have to get up early (in order to actually get at least some of what we need), and then I'll have to go to the dratted bank to hand in yet another personal data form, despite the fact that I've already handed in one, oh, half a year ago. Our government, in its eternal wisdom, chose this way to smoke out evil people who support terrorist organizations financially. As if I had that kind of money. But again, they're constantly checking out beneficial organizations, too, so I'm in good company, I guess.

And now I'm off to do some overdue transcribing.

Oops @ the holiday.
We - thank goodness - have well stocked pantry but my mum still wants to go shopping. I hope she'll stay safe ...

We don't even have a pantry, just a corner cupboard in the kitchen. I've stocked up on flour, sugar, oil and the likes, it's the fresh food and bread that needs to be replaced regularly. Fingers crossed that your Mum stays safe. I'm constantly worried about mine, too.

Oooof, the bread situation saved! From the brink of disaster!

Those pastries do look very yummy indeed.

Any chance on buying knekkebrød type things? Crackers, ryvitas, french toasts and the like? They can be stacked on bookshelves for emergency rations.

That is the one good thing about Norway, they are good at crackerbreads that can be stored for months. Shame their actual bread is a bit dreadful.

That would work for me, but Mum can't eat them, unless soaked in soup or coffee. I might stock up, though, just in case.

That's why I always have yeast in the house. Preferably fresh yeast, but I've stocked up on dried yeast as well.

What does a personal data form have to do with shopping?

Nothing. It is just another thing that has to be done and will probably eat up a lot of time.

The only one in my house that enjoys tomato pie is Paul. He says it's because he's Italian. If I were starving to death I might consider eating some. lol!

Well, it was supposed to be a tuna pizza. It just turned out differently because of the acute lack of, well, tuna in our household. *g*

The bread/buns look delicious! Oops, on the holiday, I have done such before. As to pizza, I prefer mine with just a smattering of tomato and cheese. It's past dinnertime, thinking of home baked bread is making me hungry!
