Better late than... even later...
Dec. 9th, 2019 10:21 pmSo, I finally sent off my card and package, respectively, to my dear friends
lindahoyland and
wanderingmogwai. Ladies, could you drop me a line when they arrive? Just so that I know they didn't get lost in the maze that is postal service. Thanks. That's one more thing off my to-do list. And a bit of peace for my guilty conscience.
I'm not doing the Christmas card thing this year. I've been in so much craft- and choir-related stress in the recent months that I haven't managed to make the planned Christmas cards. And I don't send ready-made ones. My apologies. It was just not doable this year.
Today, we had our last sewing circle. It was very pleasant, as always. I hope my stuff will sell good on the charity fair on Thursday, but I'm not going to give away anything under its worth. If the organizers thing my prices are too high, I'll just pack together everything again and leave. I sold in the same price category last year and raised the most money - for them, mind you! - of all. Why they want to check the prices this year is beyond me, but I can always give away everything as gifts to friends and family, especially as a lot of my stuff isn't even Christmas-related. *is annoyed*
In any case, I've finished 14 Santa's socks, the 12th one is half-done, too, and Bärli #1 is nearly completed, too. He only needs his legs to be sewn together, and then he's ready to go out in the big, wide world. Originally, I planned to give him to Baby Emma, but one of the colleagues from the sewing cycle fell in love with him and wants to buy him. She might reconsider when she sees the price, but that's fine with me, too.
If I manage to make a couple more Santa's socks until the fair, it's good. If I don't, it's good, too. I can finish the rest later and use them as decoration for the Christmas tree.
As for Christmas baking, I've got four sorts of cookies done. Another two are planned, and that will be it. I didn't have the time and the energy for the BBO (=Big Baking Orgy) this year, either. I might bake an additional cake for Mum and myself for Christmas Eve, but that's where I draw the line.
I've got one more thing to make before school term runs out: a small gift for M, our choir leader. I'm planning a very simple album, covered in music-themed scrapbook paper, full of silly quotes like: "I lead. You follow. Any more questions?" I hope she'll like it. She is so underappreciated, the poor woman, she needs love!
After that, I'll sleep for a whole week before starting with the Russian dolls. That's the plan anyway.
