It appears that the lady of German bureaucracy actually took a look into my package of documents that I sent them back at November 8, because I suddenly got an e-mail from them that they'd need the document proving that I've actually finished secondary school, back in 1975. Not any of my diplomas, but the secondary school thingy. I can't imagine why would they possibly need it, since the only two years I'm entitled to old-age pension from them are 1986-87. Why would they want something from eleven years earlier?

I was verily gobsmacked, but I thought, all right, if a copy makes them happy (and brings me closer to that very little sum they owe me), they should get it. Only that I couldn't find the dratted thing. I found my diplomas and my language proficiency exam papers and every possible thing related to education, just the very thing not that they asked for. I was getting really, really nervous, imagining going back to secondary school and begging for an official copy and all that.

Fortunately, I'm also stubborn like a mule. I decided that it had to be where all the other papers are, and I started emptying the cabinet again. And lo and behold! there was the dratted piece of faded paper, sandwiched between two notebooks, so that I've overlooked it at the first time. I was so relieved I can't even express. Now I can copy it and put the copy in an envelope and send them over to make them happy. Phew!

In other news, I've half-finished Bärli #1, made a decorative cardboard box for the memory game, had my student over, went to grocery shopping to fill up the freezer with meat, cooked lunch... People who say retirement are boring are either idiots or lying or both!
