Because [livejournal.com profile] motodraconis wanted to see it:

The teddy bear enthroned in front of it is Little Shithead (no, really, that's his name), the only male member of our family. The armchair we inherited from some barely known old relative from my grandfather's side. In the left corner you can see Grandma's bedside table - well, a slice of it. And on the big, empty, greyish-white wall will soon be covered by a poster, mostly in red: a print from one of the stained glass windows of the Église de la Reconciliation in Taizé.

My previous curtain had the exactly same pattern as the lampshade on the left. But back in those days we didn't have Venetian blinds yet, and the sun has bleached out a broad stripe right in the middle of them. It looked very ugly.

Little Shithead originally came with a brown bow with white dots around his neck but he complained that it wasn't manly enough. So I gifted upon them this original Dutch red neckerchief with the original Dutch little green wooden slipper as the tiepin, which we bought during our trip to the Netherlands, some ten or so years ago. The things one does for one's cuddly toys...

The red poster and green curtains are going to look very nice!

I hope so. The room seriously needs some colour, or I'll develop depressions in no time.
Actually, the armchair is a much more vibrant read, but my poor iPad mini struggles with colours when the illumination isn't right.

Poor little guy. What a moniker to have to live with, although I'm sure he came by it honestly.

I love the curtains and the Teddy!. He looks so comfortable perched in the antique chair. Speaking of Teddys (sp), you should have also used your Teddy icon --- one of my favorites. Wherever did you get it?

Actually, it sounds a lot more affectionate in Hungarian. He got the name because there are those small plastic beads inside his bottom the factory puts into these things for some purpose - perhaps against moths or against mould or whatnot - and it feels as if he'd have his diapers full. *g*

Here it is! This is the only icon I made myself. A student of mine sent me the picture 15 or so years ago, and I used the icon making wizard... the only time I got it working!

They are... almost. They spent the last 42 or so years in the wardrobe, but neither of us remembers when we actually bought them.

Those curtains look very 70's in pattern, but I rather like them, the green is fresh and fabulous on the eye. The lampshade is not... so easy on the eye.

Something like that, yeah. The Hungarian expression is kis szaros, literally translated: the little one who's shit his pants. *g*

Dunno, I always liked the lampshade and the previous curtains with the identical pattern. But that's just me.

When I was growing up I had a stuffed koala named Wally. He went with me on all of my travels. I used him to sass my Mom by saying "Well Wally says..." One day in response to a smartass remark my mother grabbed him and threw him out the car window as we drove along. I shrieked and she laughed at my reaction. Of course we turned back and got him but she made her point! lol I still have Wally and that was 40 years ago :)

You have a very sixties vibe going, there. It's good to hear that you're starting to regain control of your space.

That was very cruel of her. Teddys are people, too, they have feelings! Mine isn't as old as yours - half as old, tops - but I'd be out of my mind if someone hurt him. I don't even like people handle him.

Getting there - to a certain extent. I won't be able to cover the crappy paint job and the ugly wallpaper completely.
