Sorry for the absence. As you can see, I was busy. And no, it isn't the old CD-recycling project. I haven't dared my hand on that yet. These are Christmas ornaments for the charity fair: basically felt pictures with lots of sequins on the basis of thin cork plates.

The first photo was made in natural light. The shapes are more true here:

I took the second photo with lowered Venetian blinds and the overhead lamp on. The shapes are a tad distorted here (the angle wasn't perfect), but the colours are almost identical with the real thing:

This batch is finished. I'm planning to make another six, on square basis, just to have some variety, but no more. People who manage to get one should feel special and value their luck. ;))

Other than that, it is very hot. Only the morning hours are bearable. Fortunately, sewing felt doesn't require higher brain functions. It's grand to be retired, so I can afford to be more or less brain dead most of the time.

They look good enough to eat! Keep out of reach of very small children. :D

I won't sell them to anyone under the age of 6, I promise. ;)

I saw these little cut-out felt reindeer figures at the Auchan supermarket and just had to buy them. Auchan sells very pretty felt items that can be combined and varied into a great deal of decorative items. The angels and the squirrel are from there, too.

Edit: Sorry, I meant the large angels. The tiny ones were just angel wing shaped felt buttons; I added the tekla beads as body and head.

They are so sweet. Did you cut out the reindeer yourself? That's some pretty fancy cutting.

No, I bought the reindeer, the large angels and the squirrel in the crafts section of the Auchan supermarket. They are hard felt, I could never cut out somethimg this elaborate free hand. One would need some seroius machinery for that.

Thanks. I bought a lot of such Christmas elements during the last couple of years and used them from time to time. This is the first time I worked with cork, though. These than plates were sold for mere cents in a household shop in St. Pölten, originally to put them under wine or water glasses to protect the table. I, ummm, promoted them to Christmas ornaments. ;))

Yes, there will be eyelets through the hole on top and cord to hang them up.

Oh, yes! Sewing on sequins by hand is rather time-consuming.

Sometimes, when I'm upset or unhappy or just plain nervous, I find that such tasks help me calm down.

I hear that. I do most of my crafting as a form of therapy.
