We participated in the annual music festival of our district yesterday. Both the children and we mature ladies did well, but the event was utterly exhausting, as always. The long wait between the appearances, the uncomfortable circumstances - it takes place in a school because they have a stage - I had to realize that it's no longer for me. My legs were swollen beyond belief and I was so tired that I simply fell onto the bed as soon as we got home.

Mum came to hear us sing and did enjoy the program in its entirety. She just complained that the chair was bloody uncomfortable, and she had to sit on it for more than three hours, the poor thing. At least we had the one or other break when we could move around a bit.

In the morning I made a few other failed attempts to reach the guy supposedly working on my retirement papers. Nothing. Nilch. Nada. Next week I'll pay the office a personal visit. They won't enjoy it.

Today I was suitably dead then from yesterday's efforts. I literally slept beyond 10am and Mum and I had breakfast at nearly 11am. I then almost finished the next chapter of Kansas 2 and printed out a black-and-white picture (since I don't have a colour toner) of this felt doll.

I intend to make a few of these for the various babies born around me to friends and family lately - in different colours. But since there aren't any patterns available, I'll have to simply copy the picture several times (for the various body parts), lay the pieces onto the felt and outline them with a soft pencil. We'll see how it turns out.

The rest of the afternoon was spent with watching telly (the Great British Bake-Off and Forged in Fire, respectively) and reading Voyager fanfic, to keep myself in the writing mode.
