wiseheart: (Valinor by Ted Nasmith)

I finally managed to transfer my newest Linz pics from my iPad to my main PC - all four of them. *g* I didn't take many photos this time, as I made a lot last year, and I saw no reason in making the same pictures over again.

This is Mum, standing in front of one of the booths that sold roasted almonds and other nuts:

The rest are pictures of the wonderful decoration in a chocolate shop window:

Also, MMM, one of my (former) colleagues called me today to ask for my help. She bought yesterday on the fair two of these:

One for herself and one for a friend of hers. Barely did she get home when her hubby spotted the little things, his eyes lit up and he declared that these would be the ideal gifts for their daughters. What could a poor mother reply to that? MMM agreed that their girls (fully grown women, mind you) should get the gift she got for herself. But she still badly wanted one - only that they were all sold.

So I promised to make two more for her. Hearing about that, Mum perked up and asked me if I could make another one, for her friend. Since said friend is a nice woman whom I like a lot, I agreed to make it. Now, I bought the felt, and one sheet is enough to make six of these little sewing kits; I think I'll make one for MMM's niece, too, who'd followed her into teaching, and I'll still have two left to give away.

MMM said it's not absolutely necessary for the things to be done for Christmas (although it would be nice). Mum said she wanted to give the one to her friend, who's coming to our concert on Sunday, since they won't met again before Christmas. And I have three more sorts of cookies to bake before next Thursday - and probably a fourth one just for us. Urgh.

Well, at least we managed to get over to the hairdresser's today, so neither of us looks like a wet dumpling anymore.

Wow you are sure going to be very busy with these orders! But it's nice that you're now busy with things where your work is appreciated.

The pictures from Linz are lovely!

Linz is a lovely place. And I don't mind making these things for others, but I wouldn't mind some downtime, too. At least a week before Christmas - which isn't happening.

Wow, it sounds like you have quite the little side line going and you are only retired a few days. :D Best of luck!

Thanks. I don't like doing these things, but it's getting to be a little too much.

But saying no to friends and family is hard. I'm right there with you.

Sorry, I meant I don't mind doing these things. I actually like doing them. I'm just too frigging tired at the moment, as my abysmal typing clearly shows.

Oh, trust me, I know what you mean. I've about hit that wall, too.

*commiserates* I made two of those little sewing kits today and baked a huge batch of my Grandma's traditional walnut cookies, but I really no longer feel like doing anything related to Christmas and gifts and stuff.

Excellent. The most Christmas related thing I did today was buy Duraflame Logs for the fireplace. It's been a most relaxing day.

I'm afraid central heating would make those logs rather pointless... But thank you for giving me their actual names. My more conservative vampires in the Pathways crossover-verse like to have fireplaces but are... errr... somewhat allergic to fire. *g*

We have central heating, too, but we turn it low and the Duraflame logs don't give off a lot of heat. They are more for look than anything else. And the cats certainly love them. Pyewacket sleeps in front of ours when we have it going. She a bit of a fire-holic. :D

Yeah, but you'd need an actual fireplace for those things, right? Our entire flat is about as big as a fireplace. *g*

Yes, you need an actual fireplace for them. You must have a very small place, indeed.
