25 days left...

... and today was a damn long one. It should be forbidden to waste almost an entire Saturday at work. At least it wasn't completely useless work, as we did bake with the kiddies in the afternoon.



We made chocolate-peanut cookies, which somehow didn't turn out how they were supposed to but were extremely yummy nonetheless:



This is what they're supposed to look like - I've made them dozens of times, no idea what went wrong today:



We made cinnamon tales, which turned out extremely well, both in looks and taste:



And we made Hefezöpfchen - little plaits of yeast dough, no idea whether they have a proper English name or not:



All in all, a pleasant enough afternoon, and the kids - thankfully only 7 of them were present - enjoyed themselves enormously. As we needed lemon zest for the cinnamon talers, they made lemonade from the rest - it was almost like a party. I'm deadly exhausted, of course, but at least I've got the feeling that I spent my time meaningfully.


Also, I thought I'd offed our only electric kettle by trying to warm up milk in it. I'm pleased to tell you that it wasn't the case, after all. We just needed to scrub the milk residues from the bottom, and it appears to function again. Four more days without gas. *sigh*

Oh man, all of that looks delicious, even the peanut cookies that didn't turn out as desired! If I hadn't known, I would have simply assumed that's how they're supposed to look.
