... and this is what I got from the wonderful and generous [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris for my birthday:

I was trying to find a photo I could directly link here but failed. Anyway, I'm having great fun with the book, it is simply gorgeous.

I decided that I might not go to the Christmas fair in Linz to that small group of my colleagues, after all. One of them - the same one I went to St. Pölten with in spring, and one that would retire just a month earlier than I - started to behave very strangely since last Friday. She doesn't speak to me at all, which is distinctly uncomfortable, since we spend three afternoons together at work, when I enter a room she walks over to the opposite corner, and when I try to go over to her, she walks even further away.

Now, I can ignore her like the next old hag, but it drives me mad that she won't say what the hell her problem is with me. I'm not aware of having insulted her in any way (unless she learned about the birthday party I'm having with a different group of colleagues next week and is having a fit for not being invited), but even if I should have unknowingly done so, this is pre-school behaviour and rather ridiculous for a 60-year-old.

I talked to a young colleague on the phone and she says it might be the birthday thing, after all. Well, if it is, I'm sorry, but when I invited the drama queen a couple of years ago she found a school reunion more important, so I stopped inviting her in the following years. But whatever the reason is, I'm not spending a lot of money on a day trip where most of the participants are her friends, just to be given the silent treatment. I'll simply go on a different day with Mum, who at least values my company.

Errr... sorry for the rant but some people can really drive me up the walls.
