In which we had guests

One of Mum's former colleagues visited us today, together with her husband. I like her well enough, she's but a few years older than I am; her hubby is a bit nerve-wrecking, but he means well. My raspberry cheesecake was a great success with everyone, so I'm content.

I had to go out in the morning because I forgot to buy the TV programme for the current month back in Sunday when we were at the supermarket. That ate half the morning, but at least I got to take a quick look at several other shops around there, which I couldn't have done at my pace had Mum been with me.

Coming home, I finally made myself sort out some pre-punched shabby chic papers I've been planning to do for the last two years or so. And I slept about an hour before the guests came. So the day wasn't entirely wasted, after all.

So, where is everyone? Has this infernal heat flattened you all, ladies?

Yup, flattened by the heat. Been working on a skirt the last couple of days, it's a very simple skirt but the fabric is a pain to work with so it's been slow-going.

Thank you! I got the ruffles sewed in place now so at least they can't be lost if the thread tears (again) but now I'm stuck waiting for the elastic band I need. I couldn't get it locally so waiting for online shopping it is... Hopefully it will arrive later this week.

It is so annoying when you can't get the simplest things you need sometimes. I was hunting the town for striped paper clips because they look so pretty, but in 4 shops I was unable to find any. So I bought simple, cheap coloured ones and will try to make stripes on them with my white acrylic pen.

Knee-length. Might have to cut it a little shorter, depending on how high I end up having the waistline.

Gosh, on the 7th, we were struggling with the heat, the smoke and the sheer relaxed state of the bunkhouse. No Wi-Fi for me... sigh. It was a long week.
