Just some random non-events of my fairly mundane life.

I tried a new zucchini dish yesterday; a layered one, with sliced zucchini, mince meat, grated cheese and sour cream. It turned out surprisingly tasty; not to mention very soft (baked in the oven), which is an important factor for Mum who's in the process of losing her remaining teeth.

I've finished the chapter of The Book of Mazarbul I was struggling with lately. Not the most interesting part of the epic story, mostly merchant Dwarves bickering about supporting Balin's Quest to Moria, but it needed to be written. Now perhaps I might go on to the more dramatic parts. *fingers crossed*

I've finished the decoration of the outer layer of my newest Christmas box; the inside of it, that is. The outside is simply dark red for the moment, and I won't add more to it than perhaps a few stars. We'll see.

The inside looks like this:

This is a relatively simple box, the Christmas tree corners were the hardest part to cut out, the rest is - hopefully quick and easy. And it's only going to have two layers, plus a painted little figure in the middle - a snowman, a Santa or a penguin, I'm not sure yet.

So, that was all the action I saw in the recent days, but I wanted to ask: has anyone heards from [livejournal.com profile] lindahoyland lately? She hasn't updated her journal since last Wednesday, and that's definitely not like her! I sent her a PM but no answer so far. I'll wait another day or two and then try to phone her - assuming I manage to remember where I put her phone number.

That zucchini dish sounds delicious!

And hey, good on you for plodding through a boring but necessary part of the story, that's done now and you will feel all the better for it. You got quite a lot done between the writing and the work on the Christmas Box.

Mincemeat as in raisins, etc? Or is it meat that has been minced? I'm imagining some chicken layered with the zucchini and cheese. Is the sour cream baked in the dish, or do we dollop it on our serving when we are ready to eat? Can you tell I'm hungry? Would you share the recipe please!

Congrats on finishing the chapter. Bickering dwarves? What's not to love:)

Love the box! So pretty!

I hope you hear from your friend soon. Fingers crossed.

Oh, sorry, I meant minced meat. And yes, the sour cream is baked in the dish. The meat was pork, though, pre-cooked and mixed with steamed rice before layering the dish.
