It took me the end of the most recent school term, but I finally found back to my writing at least. I've written several scenes to Timescapes in the recent days and also a few pages to The Book of Mazarbul that has unexpectedly resurfaced and demanded my attention, after several years.

It felt so good to write Tolkienfic again! I was afraid that Fiondil's death had offed my Tolkien muse for good; he was such a helpful and supportive person who never felt it beneath his dignity to review, despite the fact that he was such a celebrity in the fandom. Perhaps now that my time in this education business is nearing the end, I'll find the peace and inspiration to return to the Ardaverse. *fingers crossed*

As for crafting, I made another tin-can-turned-into-a-penci-holder. I had a piece of burlap left (mental note: I need to buy a fresh supply) and I still have a lot of those lace edges my Granny hand-crocheted for various purposes. They look beautiful with burlap... and with a lot of other fabrics, too. This time I decorated the pencil holder with gold cord and pale pink pearls, instead of the usual silk flowers or bows.

What do you think?

Aaah that turned out very pretty! I would have never guessed this started out as a tin can.

I hope your writing will be going well, both the Tolkien writing and otherwise. I admire you for being able to return to a project after such a long break, I always find that very hard.

Oh, it isn't easy, believe me. First I have to re-read the whole thing - or at least skim over it - and it usually means 10+ chapters. Then I have to figure out where have I put my notes; neither the computer nor the notebooks are very helpful, let me tell you! And then I have to try and find back to the spirit of the respective story, which is perhaps the hardest. I always must resist the urge to rewrite the whole thing with all my might.

I'm glad you like the pencil holder. It's neat, isn't it? And it took me about half an hour to make, tops.

Thank you. :) I like making these things - currently, I've got 3 slightly different ones standing on my desk, and more are in the planning - because not only are they pretty, they do have a practical purpose and above that, I even do a little bit of recycling, too, which soothes my conscience. *g*
