Sooo, the extra, unofficial session of [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo has started, and since I'm the showrunner, I felt morally obliged to do some actual writing. Which I did, in the morning. Just a page and a half, but better than nothing, right?

Then I had to cook lunch (which is the main meal of the day over here), because I wanted Mum to rest a little. We had PLANS for the afternoon.

Then, as I still had a little time left, I finished a couple of cards that were in the making. Here they are:

"Sleep Dreams", an India-themed card to which I used a beautiful postcard that had been sent me by my good friend, [livejournal.com profile] lhun_dweller, for a long-gone birthday:

The other one is basically an experiment in 3D - I wanted the flowers to appear in well-defined high relief, and this was the result:

Working out all the little details was a real pain in the backside, and double-sided tape is definitely a spawn of Morgoth, but in the end it turned out quite nicely.

Then we had our big, 50th anniversary concert, together with the children's choir. We sang one a capella piece by Pitoni, and several opera arias and choirs, namely:

- the Toreador March from Bizet's Carmen;
- the aria Brindisi (otherwise known as The Drinking Song) from Verdi's Traviata;
- the Gypsy Chorus (or Anvil chorus) from Verdi's Troubadour;
- the Hebrew Slaves' choir from Verdi's Nabucco;
- and finally the Triumphal March from Verdi's Aida.

A group of young musicians from the local music school played with us, it was a great experience and a full success.

Then we came home and I felt inspired to bake a grid cake, after Granny's old recipe:

It is filled with prun jam and walnuts.

So, all in all a busy day, thank God tomorrow is Sunday.
