In the morning, we made a trip to Linz, which is a rather large city in the neighbourhood - the same one we visited last year. It is a mere 45 minutes by train, and we'd bought the ticket as far as Linz in advance. Unfortunately, no one warned us not to board the trains of Westbahn, as it is a private company, and we had to get off the train half-way and continue our journey by some slow local shuttle.

Well, no matter. We reached Linz, half an hour later than expected - and learned, to our sorrow, that the lovely little traditional bakery we'd visited every day last year had closed. After 150 years! I don't know the reasons, but it is sad.

Anyway, we went to the local Thalia, which is something similar like Borders was in the UK, and I had great fun in the baking and DIY department. We also had coffee there, and I bought the boxed edition of Earth: Final Conflict's 2nd season. They had the 3rd season, too, but it was too expensive for my purse. Perhaps it's just come out and will gradually become cheaper. Hopefully.

Then we used our 24-hour-ticket to travel around Linz by tram for another hour or so visited a few little shops, and finally took the 15:14-hour train back to St Pölten. There we ate in the local equivalent of a fish&chips shop and are currently resting in our hotel room. But we're planning to go back to the fantastic ice cream shop later.

Coming up tomorrow: a visit in the Museum of City History and, hopefully, a ride on the sightseeing train.

Sounds like you had a great day!

I didn't know that E: FC has been released on DVD, that's great. And I was curious, yeah, season 3 (and later ones, they seem to be up to 4) has just been released this year, while season 2 is from last year. I'd wager they'll get cheaper in a while.

That's my hope, yes. I've had Season 1 for years (the original English edition), but the later seasons never came as Region 2 versions. I may get me the later seasons eventually, but IMO the first two were the best. Save for the single episodes in which Marina Sirtis and Steve Bacic had guest roles. I think those were from later seasons.

Have you seen Season 5? I missed that one, though perhaps better so, based on what I read about it.

Hmm, I can't remember. I know I watched the early stuff but otherwise... not sure. Probably not, if I don't remember it.

Now I feel like watching it again, too, but I'll have to wait till one of the streaming services I have gets it. With me moving around between Mom's and my place DVDs are impractical currently.

Good food! Good bookshop! A bite to eat and a bit of rest! Just what the doctor ordered for you both!

What I wanted to ask: are you still interested in Classic!Who? I've bought four whole boxed editions, and some stories I already have on single DVDs. I'd be willing to do business with you if you're interested: the Classic!Who eps in exchange for EFC, once the prices go down a little. *g*

I've fallen out of Dr Who, but some classic!who would be interesting anyway for curiosity's sake. Poke me again in a couple of months and we'll see :)

The more Classic!Who I watch the more I realize how much better some of it was than the Rustoid's version. Much better than Ten, in any case.

The complete serials I can offer are the two with the Rani (the evil Time Lady - she is fantastic!) versus the Sixth and Seventh Doctor, respectively, and the Seventh Doctor serial "Delta and the Bannermen". I'll have to check if there's anything else - "The Silver Nemesis" perhaps, which has Seven against the Cybermen. We'll see. Once the EFC prices have fallen under the 30-Euro-marker, I'll poke you again. *g*

Edit: I had to re-post the comment - for some reason LJ thought I wasn't logged in. Odd, that.

The question remains, of course, how will we figure out when the prices have dropped. ;)

I can look on Amazon as I'd have to buy online anyway, as I don't have anywhere local I could get such DVDs

Should add though that my future financial situation is very uncertain, so I really can't make promises.

We can always wait a little longer. The 7th Doctor boxed editions were amazingly cheap: I got them for 13 Euros, both. And two years or so ago they would have cost three times that sum.
