Oh yes, Elrond and Faramir have been done no favours by the movies at all. So different from the books and not in a good way.
Rivendell I like, Lorien was gorgeous, and yes while there may not have been staircases (or did Galadriel not like her dress being looked up while she climbed ladders?) the ladders would have looked silly in the movie. Moria was gorgeous, gloomy dark destroyed yet you could sense what it should have been.
