It was a horrible Star Wars rip-off in some places, but otherwise rather okay, save for the fact that they blew up Vulcan in the end or whatnot.
Chris Pine is quite good at copying Shatner's horrible acting, Zachary Quinto is an acceptable young Spock, but the Uhura actress is horrible, has nothing to do with the character, and the Uhura/Spock romance (???) is forced and stupid. I wasn't truly impressed by the young Sulu, Scotty or Chekov, either, although Karl Urban does a rather likeable McCoy.
Forgot to add: if you want really good original Trek imitation, look up Star Trek Phase II on the Net. It's a fan-made series of original stories, I find them highly enjoyable. some of the original guest stars even show up, and they have Denise Crosby in a double episode, too.
