Utterly pointless entry
May. 30th, 2013 10:41 pmJust because I wanted to post something else than update alerts and the regular whining about not getting reviews (which I still don't, save the three saintly ladies who keep soldiering on, but that's another matter entirely). So, be prepared for school stuff, babbling about writing, summer holidays and family insanity.
So, school's about to run out in 3 weeks' time, and it's about time, I'd say. I'm just very tired of the vipers' nest I'm working in, of the government doing its worst to utterly destroy any chance of a proper education and the general unwillingness of the young generation to bring up as much as some vague interest for anything that isn't their blasted smartphone.
Tomorrow we're gonna have THE PARTY of the year, with Mum and her friends celebrating mass birthdays. 6 of them have their birthdays in January, which is always celebrated in our flat, but this year it kept being delayed. Either one of them got ill, or another one had a new grandchild, or the third one took a fall on the street or whatnot - so we're gonna celebrate the annual Mass Birthday of January on the last day of May. I've just finished baking chocolate-coconut muffins. The cheesy buns with 4 different seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, sesame and linseed) I'll bake freshly tomorrow. After work. Oh, joy. But it's gonna be a hilarious party, with the combined ages of the guest probably being more than a millennium. *g*
I'm written Part 60 of "The Adventures of a Consulting Time Lord" today. With that, it's officially the longest thing I've ever written, at least by the number of parts. As each is 4 pages long, tops, the word count probably remains behind some of my 4-chapter-stories, but still. It's a Ianto/Mycroft piece, which is always great fun. It closes the dark!Ianto interlude that has strong CoE referenes, tieing it into the Sherlock universe. I'm quite happy with it. The next story arc will be a somewhat insane combination of "The Speckled Band" and the Bollywood movie "The Mistress of Spices," with John's ex-wife in the role of Thilo.
Oooh, and
picowrimo starts in two days! I hope I'll get written the two unfinished "Dwobbit" chapters during the June session and perhaps return to some old stuff in July.
Still unsure about the summer trip, though. A tour organised by our usual travel agency is out of question; Mum won't be able to keep up with a group of much younger people anymore, not with her leg the way it is. I was considering a private trip to Thüringen (Erfurt, Weimar, Wartburg Castle and the likes), but my cousin's wife says all direct trains have been cancelled, and we'd have to change trains at least twice. Direct airlines have been cancelled, too. So it will probably be Berlin, either by night train or by plane. If only I weren't so deadly afraid of flying. *sighs*
Well, I can't think of anything worth mentioning right now. Was probably boring enough anyway. But at least it will remind me of my own plans, which is useful sometimes.

Wow! Very impressed by how much you've written on <em.The Adventures of a Consulting Time Lord</em> - I look forward to reading more of it. :)
Yay, pico. I'm looking forward to it as well and hoping to make some progress on the Firiel and/or Wainriders stories (the two are so much part of the same thing in my mind although I don't think they'd work as one story now) - despite rl stuff that will probably get in the way (that I do intend to post about my lj soon...)
Aww, travel is so hard to organise. Good luck finding something that works for both of you. :)

Date: 2013-05-31 07:53 pm (UTC)Yeah, I think Berlin would definitely be a good alternate choice. I've never been there before, although I wanted to see the Pergamon Museum already when I was in the 5th class and first heard about Babylon and the Sumer cities. So it ought to be fun.

Date: 2013-05-31 07:57 pm (UTC)Mum sends her love. We still both hope to see you on this side of the pond one day. That's why we play lotto. Once we crack the jackpot, count on your flight ticket arriving.

Date: 2013-06-04 08:32 pm (UTC)I found a 5-day-trip by coach to Dresden, Berlin and Potsdam, with lots of programs that one can skip if one doesn't feel up to them. We might try that one.
