It might be just my computer (and my laptop, with a different browser, BTW), but last night FF.Net sprang their newest surprise on me. Until now, the recently used links had a different colour on it, just like on any other website, making it easier to find which story you have read last. Now it doesn't. All links remain blue, whether you clicked on them or not.

Now, it's a minor inconvenience, sure, but still an inconvenience. Why the hell must they always tinker with the site as long as it works just fine. I for my part find the stupid icons appearing next to each story distracting and a waste of reading space, too. But I'm old and weird. *sighs*

I wish people would stop changing everything without any suitable reason! [/rant]

It seems to be doing the same for me, so it is probably a change. Totally agree about the icons - they really don't add anything useful! But it seems that most of the changes to ff.net are slowly making it less and less usable!

There were some folks complaining about this over on the ff.net community on LJ. So probably a change. Most of their changes haven't bothered me - but it looks like their trying to develop the 'social media' aspects of their site - which is not why people go to FF.net. Icons? Useless. Sorting stories by popularity? Makes it much harder for a new writer to get noticed. Life may or may not be like high school, but apparently all web sites must be configured that way.

I completely agree and I am now getting confused about what I have/have not read. I think I preferred the site before all the recent changes.

All of their changes seem to be for the worse. I don't really understand the reasons behind it.

So ff.net is now trying to turn itself into a bad copy of Facebook? How very typical of them! Their changes are NEVER for the better!

Very true. The colour for the used lines is finally back, but now the font size is fixed - at least when I use my laptop - at such a large scale that I have to go to the other end of the room to read it. And if I reduce the general font size of my browser, it becames so tiny that I can't read it at all.
