Hamburg, we're coming!

Oookay, I'm really, really relieved! Finally, after two weeks of nervous waiting (school has been very demanding lately), we went to the travel agency today. They helped me to book our hotel room, and I could even pay for it in Hungarian currency through the tourist office, which is a Good Thing (TM). I've paid the whole thing, for 4 nights and breakfast, in advance, which means I won't have to spend any Euros on accommodation. Which means again, I can spend them on other, more delightfuls stuff. Yay!

So, in case anyone is willing to face me in the flesh, and you live anywhere near Hamburg, I'll be there from July 9 (late morning) to July 13 (late afternoon), save for a short trip to Lübeck, most likely on July 12, but that part isn't certain yet. I'd be absolutely happy to meet you guys - PM me, and I'll give you hotel addres and mobile number.


Now to buy the train ticket next week, and everything will be ready!

Thanks, I'm very happy, too! I was so frigging scared that I'd mess up the booking somehow, but fortunately, the hotel was on the list of the travel agency, so everything seems to be all right.

Yay for an exciting vacation ahead! I'm glad the travel agent was able to get the details straightened out, so now you can concentrate on enjoying the trip instead of being stressed out by all the planning.

I have to admit, though, that I haven't seen much of Hamburg since I was only there to study. I always only had the evenings off when museums and such were closed. I know I was disappointed by the famous Michel, it's such a tourist trap with a souvenir shop in the church and such. I didn't like the Landungsbrücken, either, the guys selling sightseeing tours by bus hassle you very aggressively there - but if you have the time it's still worth it to brave that place. The Speicherstadt part of the harbor tour was worth sitting through the cargo port part.
