Web issues & Terra Nova

My Internet provider is acting up. My mailing programme keeps breaking down, and I can't even access their homepage. Not only from my own PC, but from the one at school, either. Which is strange, considering that I have, at least, undisturbed Internet access, even if some pages are slow to load. Will wait for a day or two, but if things don't change, I'll give UPC a very annoyed call. Brrrr!

DW is actin up, too. It doesn't import my comments, for the third time within a short time span (a month or so). Last time, waiting a few days and trying it again helped. This time, it did not. I'm very annoyed. DW is supposed to be the security copy of my journal, but if it refuses to work, what's the point?

Other than that, I've watched "Terra Nova" tonight. It was very boring. I didn't even manage to watch the episode to its end. *sighs* I also planned to watch "The Day of the Triffids" afterwards, but TN made me so annoyed that I no longer was in the right mood for it. Too bad, I was actually interested in that film. But my attention span has been very short lately, being so overworked and all that.

It's very frustrating when computer stuff refuses to work properly. Good luck getting it all sorted out!

Arghs, Terra Nova hatte ich wieder ganz vergessen, hab jetzt nur die Fahrt im Kopf. Wenigstens scheint's, dass ich nichts verpasst habe.

Thanks. Mailing programme seems to be back to what counts for it as normal, but I wonder what may be fishy with DW. *sighs*

It is very frustrating indeed, especially as I don't have any RL contacts outside of my work and lead my so-called social life online.

Terra Nova was a pretty mediocre show. It's too bad because the premise sounded interesting but it wasn't handled well. I especially disliked the annoying teenage son. I'm not surprised that it wasn't renewed for a second season.

Well, the mere fact that it wasn't renewed for another season isn't necessary an indication of the quality of a show. The original "Battlestar Galactica didn't get a second chance, either, and neither did "Firefly". But in this case I must agree with the decision.

What is it with sci-fi shows and annoying male brats anyway? ST: TNG had Wesley Crusher, "SeaQuest" had Lucas Wolenczak, to name only the two most disgusting ones. Of course, "SeaQuest" changed its basic premise every season, so the brat was the least of their problems.

I loved that show nonetheless. My main problem with it was the fact that it was not one show but three different ones. I would have been interested in all three versions, had the PTB not tried to sell them to us as the same show.

True, but the low ratings combined with the cost of making a show like that made it unlikely it was coming back. I watched it on and off without really caring if I missed an episode and there were some good moments. The little girl feeding the dinosaurs in the pilot episode was great but they focused more on the boring and predictable human drama than the sci-fi aspects.

Seaquest DSV really was like three different shows. I didn't like the third season all that much but the first two were good.

I missed the pilot episode - managed to overlook the whole show in the TV magazine.

As for SeaQuest Season 3, I rather liked it... sort of. I like Michael Ironside typecast as the tough, no-nonsense CO, I like the actor who played the evil President (I can't remember his name at the moment, although he's quite well-known... shame on me!) and the ecological aspect was interesting, even though way too heavy-handed.

My personal letdown was Season 2. The idea with the artificially bred humans was interesting, though not really new (SAAB made a much better job of it), but it never really went anywhere, and the rest of the show was just rubbish. I despise Ted Raimi; every time he appeared I started itching, and I missed the lady doctor from Season 1. Lucas was bad enough as a teenager, but as a young adult he was positively loathsome, so...
