No, I haven't got the current bug, and it seems to have run its course, more or less. Kids are coming back to school in spades. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, you decide for yourself.

But: I've been having the most bewildering symptoms that prove that a) I'm either getting ill, or b) I'm getting old. My ears freeze. I kid you not! My earshells, while feel reasonably warm to the touch, are freezing. I have the feeling most of the time that they are ice cold. They are not. I checked them. Mum checked them. They don't feel any colder than the rest of me.

It's really, really weird. It reminds me of a short story by György Moldova, about a young man whose fingernails hurt. At first they thought he was simulating because he didn't want to go to the Army (it was mandatory in our country at that time). Then they put him into the madhouse, where already were three Christi, two Buddhas and a guy who only knew that he was a dove, but whether the Holy Ghost or the one from Picasso's paitning, he couldn't tell.

Well, the madhouse has been closed years ago, for economical reason (which is why so many madmen are running around free over here, most of them acting in politics), so I'm not in that particular kind of danger. But my ears still feel bloody cold!

I have a similar problem with my feet! ;)

Do you have cinnamon sticks at home? They work wonders against cold feet, maybe they'll work on ears as well?

If you want to try, rub a cinnamon stick against the skin and massage it a bit (the ear, not the stick, lol). Let me know how it turns out ;)

Hmm... That does sound strange. Has this freezing occurred in other parts of your body, like fingers or toes? Do you notice anything ese about your ears, like feeling pain or numb? Have you noticed anything else that's been different, like dry eyes, or feeling unexplained tiredness? It might be nothing, but it does sound strange enough that if it keeps going on maybe you should see a doctor?

I think it must be in my head, mostly. Because it's only the left ear, and not all the time. When I'm hanging out on the school yard, watching the evil little trolls, erm, sweet little schoolkids, trying to massacre each other, I don't have it, despite the low temperatures. Or in my bedroom.

But as soon as I'm in the study, my left ear starts to freeze. And no, it's not the one turned to the window, from where any draft might be coming. It's the other one. And it doesn't feel cold to the touch or anything. At least not a tad colder than the other one. Must be a psychosomatic symptom, I guess.

Is it possible you've got a nerve that is being pressed or pinched sometimes, making it send a false signal? The fact that it happens only when you're in that one particular place makes me think it might be something like the way you tilt your head when sitting at your desk or computer in your study causes a nerve to be pressed a bit, and then it sends an odd signal. Perhaps try being conscious of how you usually hold your head in the study and try changing positions regularly, see if it helps? Good luck!

The problem with your ears could maybe be a circulation problem. My mother's hands are always cold even when it's hot out because of poor circulation.

I was sick all yesterday but with food poisoning not the flu. It was just as bad though.

On an unrelated note, I started watching the first season of Merlin and I really like it. I've only seen the first three episodes but I want to watch all the seasons. It's going to take a while and I'm trying to avoid spoilers too much but it's a fun show. Although, I'm not really sure why Guinevere is a blacksmith's daughter(unless this isn't THE Guinevere) but I'm guessing that will be explained later on.

It might have started with that Now, I believe, it has become a psychosomatic problem. I only have to enter the study, and the freezing starts. *sighs*

It is the Guinevere all right. I guess the creators wanted to go for the old ugly duckling schema, which is why they made her a sevant instead of a princess. In my eyes, it makes the entire romance completely unbelieveable, but again, I am a weird one.
