Pre-birthday activities
Jan. 27th, 2012 11:44 pmI baked Ischler today, in preparation for Mum's upcoming birthday. It turned out great, thank God. So, the little cookies are crispy, filled with red currant jam, covered with chocolate icing and decorated with almond splitters, waiting for their turn. Yum!
In case you are interested, making them is almost ridiculously easy.
Dough:
280 gr white flour
150 gr sugar
200 gr ground almonds
280 gr butter or margarine
1 pinch of salt
Filling:
red current jam
a tablespoon of rhum
Icing:
I used 2 bars of ready-made chocolate icing, melted with a tablespoon of vegetable oil
The dough must rest in the fridge for at least two hours. Then roll it out, cut out small circles of your favourite size (mine are 4 centimetres in diameter) and bake them on 200 degrees Celsius for about ten minutes.
Glue together always two pieces with the jam filling (it should be warmed up) and then cover it with chocolate icing. I use a brush for that. Decorate with almond splinters, hacked pistachioes or whatever you like.
