Allrighty, I've decided to set up a progress report for this year's baking orgy. I pre-dated it for Christmas Eve, so I'll be able to follow the plan and strike through the cookies already made.

The planned goodies:

1) Nougatkipferln
2) Maronistangerln
3) Kokoskipferln - neu!
4) Feine Weihnachtskekse (im Grunde genommen Vanillekränzchen)
5) Wiener Stangerln
6) Demel-Sterne

7) Schwarz-Weiß-Gebäck
8) Karlsbader Krapfen (mit Haselnuß-Krokant)
9) Schoko-Kekse
10)Nuß-Sternchen - neu!
11)Vanillekipferln
12)Todán fánk
13)Schokoladensterne
14)Zimtsterne

15)Orangenherzen
16)Butter-Kokos-Plätzchen
17)Knusperhäuschen für den Nikolaustag
18)Husarenkrapferln
19)Schoko-Mandel-Makronen - neu!
20)Krokant-Ecken - neu!
21)Walnuß-Plätzchen
22)Zipfelmützen mit Baiserhaube
23)Zitronenherzen
24)Orangentalern
25)Walnuß-Taler
26)Ingwerknöpfe - neu!
27)Erdnuß-Schoko-Plätzchen -neu!
28)Eierbrezeln - neu!
29)Nußherzen - neu!

As you can see, I'm planning to try out a few new things, aside from old ones that have proven delicious. Some of the recepies I've posted before last Christmas; just hit the "baking" tag and go back a few pages if you're interested.

Updates follow behind the tag, as otherwise this entry would stretch into eternity.

Ingwerknöpfe, aka Ginger buttons, were originally supposed to be gingerbread figures, but something went wrong with the dough, so since I couldn't roll it out, I simply made little buttons of it, painted them with icing and decorated them with colourful sugar pearls.

MySchwarz-Weiß-Gebäck turned out really well yesterday. I used all possible patterns, and while the individual cookies are a bit... erm... irregular, they still look great as a whole.

12. November
Vanillekipferln worked out just fine, although it seems to me that the ground almonds ready-bought don't have the same fine aroma as whole almonds ground by hand. Ah, well, they're still delicious, and Mum says she cannot feel the difference. Since they are her favourites, that's what counts.

17. November
Baked Walnußplätzchen, Walnußtaler & Orangenherzen today. Just the cookies themselves. Chocolate/sugar icing and decoration will follow tomorrow.

Discovered that my precious orange slices cooked in sugar syrup have gone bad in the fridge. Drat, and I was so proud of them! Now I'll have to re-do them at a later time, right when I'll need them for the orange cookies.

19. November
Four more sorts today: Maronistangerln, Schokoladensterne, Zimtsterne & Butter-Kokos-Plätzchen. Brand new discovery: ground almonds bought in sealed packages don't have the same taste and aroma as freshly ground ones. Which might be the reason why they are so much cheaper. Ah, well, they will do nonetheless.

24. November
Today I made five new sorts: Nougatkipferln, Feine Weihnachtskekse, Karlsbader Krapfen, Husarenkrapferln & Nußherzen. They all turned out not only very good but also very pretty, so I'm pleased with the results.

30. November
Baked Erdnuß-Schoko-Plätzchen with the schoolkids today. They turned out great, once again. Check out the recipe in my entry from the day.

1. December
Made Kokoskipferln today, which is a new one, and it turned out really nice. Especially considering that I hate coconuts. I also made some Krokant-Ecken, which wasn't originally planned, but I wanted to use up the krokant left from Karlsbader Krapferln. Well, now I have a new sort of biscuits and still some krokant left. *sighs*

2. December
Baked Schoko-Kekse, Nuß-Sternchen, Wiener Stangerln & Demel-Sterne today. As usual, the dough for the latter turned out too tough to squeeze it through the biscuit press, so I formed little buttons by hand instead. Still look cute, the little things.

Oh, and the honeybread house will go to Mum's lady friend for Santa Claus, as she's going to have a serious operation, to cheer her up.
